Members with avatars in their sigs show as red "x" in IE or broken pic link in Firefox.

Post 1/29 complaints moved to stickied "OFFICIAL" complaint thread.

me too. everybody who posted above has a blank avatar.

Me too. I can't even upload a new avatar.

Browser: Firefox 9.0.1 (only see link: blablabla's Avatar) / Theworld 3.5.0.5 (with red cross)

Just started happening to me 2 minutes ago. 50% of avatars missing, including my own.

And the forums are acting a little "off".
 
My avatar is missing as well. I think it was ok yesterday or the day before. I tried to reupload the image and the site will not take it. Says "can't save image" ... and it is within the required size for an avatar. Please fix .. thanks

I have the same issue, cant see any avatars or upload a new one..
 
When I posted, I couldn't see any broken ones, including that of the OP. Now, the only one I see in this thread is mine and, from Bubbaleone's post, others don't see that. I looked at a thread in OT and, out of 75 posts, I saw 8 avatars. Dunno what the problem is, but maybe associated with the fact that the main site was down all yesterday and that search is down - again. Sigh. If we're lucky someone from over there will clue us in.
 
@ allisolm: This is what I got in my control panel when I tried to search " all posts by Bubbaleone". Not bitchin'....just thought this might help figuring out what the problem is with "search" and "avatars" being broken.

Seems like the standard avatars are working but custom avatars are not. As was posted before, you can't upload custom avatars, you get the message 'can't save image.' You get the same error if you try to use a URL for custom avatar.
 
I was seeing a few custom ones (my own included) but now they're gone as well. Just the AnandTech or Dragons Fury standard ones remaining.

I guess this is all a 'benefit' of moving the database into the ''cloud"
