I've taught two so far..

I don't mind teaching people in my car -- that'll probably change when I put a new clutch in, though. It also won't be the most friendly clutch to learn on..

95 5 speed Maxima. Original clutch at 121K and is still sticky and it survived me learning on it and the original owner too I think. Here in Iowa, there's no need for an automatic. Even in Philadelphia where my friend lives, he found more fun ways to work that allow him to avoid the highway and its traffic

Started out with manual for a few years, now have auto. Manual's for young 'uns. Auto's for lazy adults.

Auto transmission=less frustration in traffic=less road rage=cheaper insurance

Is the insurance really less for automatic? I know the car is cheaper in manual (in my case anyway).

What I meant is that auto would make you less likely to drive like an ass, so you get fewer tickets and accidents.

Saves a few bucks, I think the quote for my car differed by about $5 depending on whether I got a stick or not. Not enough to make up the difference between the two though.

Please explain the reasoning there? I have never had a problem driving a manual in traffic. I find it more fun because traffic is boring. Nothing interesting ever happens in traffic. *shrugs*

BTW, I prefer a manual transmission. It adds to the driving experience and allows you to push start you car when necessary

I definitely agree with the burst of speed that allow you to 'cheat' in traffic, but driving manual is just a pain in the ass if you drive an hour each way to class. EVERYDAY.

Then again, i've only driven an automatic to class once and htere wasn't any traffic, so I don't know how 'boring ' an auto is in traffic.
