Thats BS. IF she had medical insurance, all she has to do is go to the hospital, show her card and get it fixed.
no money out of pocket.
She just wanted extra cash. Now she is trying to get sympathy. She took a bad gamble and lost badly.
Umm, I don't know where you are that medical insurance is so wonderful, here in the US they very well may have denied the claim.
My mother tripped while in a store, injuring her wrist. Due to pain and swelling she went to the ER in case it was fractured, after x-rays and examinations it was clear that it was a sprain, she got a brace and made an appointment with her regular doctor to follow up for possible physical therapy. Imagine her surprise when she received an $11k bill for the ER visit, because she mentioned that it occurred at a store and the medical insurance refused coverage on the grounds that the store was liable for the accident damage.
My mom had to threaten a suit against the store to get their insurance to cover the medical bills.
In the case of this woman in CN, her attorney claims they have bills from multiple surgeries on the wrist. That's quite possible if the fracture caused damage to the median nerve, or the carpal tunnel.
Overall if I have to choose between believing this woman is just out to get money, versus believing insurance companies are screwing with her over real medical expenses, I will tend to be against the insurance companies as I have seen a lot more cases of BS out of them.
