Any other husbands here have a hard time "getting out of the way" when Aunt Flo makes her monthly visit? I just can't make myself not antagonize my wife on purpose or call her out on her hormonally driven BS.

Tonight she made some wild accusation that was completely baseless and had no bearing on reality whatsoever. I laughed and asked her what other fun insecurities she has that would make me chuckle.

lol Oops.

Yes, big time asshole thing to say. I'm going to apologize.

Still, when she's so emotional about stuff and not making sense my overly analytical, logical, INTP brain just can't let that irrational stuff go when she's saying things so far out in left field like that.

whatever you do, D O N O T blame her moodiness on Aunt Flo. it will send her over the edge.

actually though, I thought PMS, which comes before you have your period was the irrational time. the hormones all change once the period arrives.

I stand corrected.

Yes, I'm referring to the 2-4 days before Aunt Flo arrives.

Yeah, my wife used to get really bad PMS. It was almost a deal breaker. Then she got on the pill and life has been bliss.

Why are women so nuts like that? I mean it's fairly obvious that's the reason why she's going batshit nuts, if they could just realize it, it might make things a little easier.

But no, that's too hard to ask. And people wonder why domestic violence exists.

you had me until you suggested domestic violence. . .

I dunno, hormones do wacky things sometimes, but still, I think someone should be able to show self control and not take it out on others.

My SO seems to be pretty strong when it comes to these things. She gets pretty emotional but its not an irrational bitch kind.

If she gets really upset for no reason whatsoever to the point it pisses me off, I tend to quote Knocked Up:

You know what? I know this isn't you talking, it's your hormones, but I would just like to say "Fuck you, HORMONES! You are a crazy bitch, HORMONES! Not YOU! HORMONES!"

Usually gets a laugh out of her. If not I then pick up the rest of my remains after the wrath of Khan storms through. :p

somehow, whenever Aunt Flo arrives, work always piles it on causing me to stay extra late.

all jokes aside, my wife is on the pill, so her periods arent that bad. She just gets real tired and sleepy. She does get bitchy sometimes. I used to call her out on it, but I've learned to just bite my tongue, especially since Ive seen other men who have it way worse than I do.

Eh I call my wife on her bitchyness. You can just tell the days she's just trying to pick a fight. I flat out tell her I'm not playing her games. It's worked well for me so far (10 years).

We just worked it out before hand. We each work our own jobs, having or own bank accounts and split all group bills 50/50. This means when I want a toy, I buy it and she can't say a damn thing as long as I'm paying my part of the bills or putting money into savings for the next group purchase we both decided to save for. Just like I can saying anything when she wastes money on tanning or a million pairs of shoes. We also made a pact to have no children. We also made agreements to not buy any presents for holidays. This means no valentines day presents, xmas presents, even anniversary presents. If we buy something for each other, it's simply because we felt like it.

I think what causes arguments in 99% of cases is greed, money or children. Other things that cause arguments have been relegated to a calendar. For example, all house work has a calendar setup with due dates. We just make sure stuff gets done with our name next to it by the due date. So you don't have those "Why do you never help me" or "I asked you to do X" arguments.

Most importantly, I married a girl who understands that you don't have to talk to spend time together. This means she isn't constantly asking me how I feel, and just takes what I say at face value. We also both work and have our own hobbys away from each other. This means we don't just spend every single waking moment in each other's presence. I've been with her for somewhere between 7 and 9 years and married for (I think) 5 years. We have not had a single argument that wasn't resolved in about 15 minutes. I've never been yelled at for checking out another girl, or accused of anything.

It's a win/win.

I'm surprised I haven't been assaulted :(
