AudioSurf

I think this youtube comment sums it up nicely:
It looks like Katamari Damaci and Guitar Hero had a kid, it was dropped on it's head as a small child took drugs, then took a crap. Then somebody took this delinquient's crap and flattened iit out into a drug-indused candey bar

I just downloaded this from Steam. Its pretty fun..if anything try to the demo out

So worth the 8 or so bucks? Does it automatically convert a song into a track? If so it seems like it'd be fun just to see how your favorite songs turn out

yup each song is a unique track. whats neat is that if you know the song, you'll 'know' the track because the game makes the track according to the audio properties. it was fun but it looks like it'll get old after a while.

I'd say that comment sums up youtube more than it sums up AudioSurf.

Wow, this game is actually really cool - the best part is that it connects to the server to store/show high scores from around the world (or even just people in your area) for that individual song.

My friend, a Bemani fanatic, gifted me this over Steam for my birthday. It's pretty nifty; I need to mess around with some of the game modes to find ones that I enjoy more. I don't like matching the colors so much in the standard variation, and there isn't enough traffic in the mono ones. Oh well, it's worth trying the demo. I really enjoy how the track twists, speeds up, slows down, and varies, etc. to the music.

i played the demo and bought this earlier today. haven't really played it too much but i like the ninja mono so far.

I've fallen for this game. It really is a simple, yet addictive game. Any song will transform into a track. It is perfect.

I love this game. I should probably give this game to a couple of potheads. They would dig the crazy colors.

Not worth 8 bucks, but I didn't "buy" it persay.

You love the game, but it's not worth $8 to you? How does that make sense?

On another note, I just got an email from Audiosurf notifying me that I had been "dethroned" - I had the worldwide best score on a song, but someone has apparently beaten it. Nice idea by the devs, things like this will actually keep my playing more often.

It works like this. I love the game in that its a great game to play when Im bored and on my laptop.

However, it doesn't have the depth to make me consider paying 8 bucks for it.

I absolutely love this game. I played it for a couple hours last night, and scored pretty high on the global list for several songs on easy. The demo doesn't give you a real sense of what the game actually is, though. All of the different characters and options make the game great. It's so simple, yet incredibly fun, frustrating, and addictive.

I played the demo and will buy the full version. I also like that you get the Orange Box music with the game. Its hard to get Still Alive out of your head though. OMG its in there again! ahhhhhhh!

It looks awesome but I have one minor question, how does it tell people are playing the same song, does it check the track shape or is it based on the mp3 name?

that's a good question, since ID3 tag info could very well be different, although it doesn't even appear to look at the ID3 tags and rather only at the filename. Hmm.

Currently it just goes by ID3 info or song name, but either way it's not perfect, there are some problems with people having remixes, different versions, or outright editing it. I believe they will be integrating with musicbrainz to make it more reliable. Wish they would just hash the generated track shape and note patterns to do a quick comparison

Just got around to trying it. Very fun and addicting. Currently figuring out which songs will work best on it. I'm a metal-head so most of my library creates some crazy-fast maps on the expert mode.
