Please don't shoot me. I changed my mind again and decided to return the CMS50 (due to poor build quality and excessive humming noise) and already ordered the CMS40. Man I got a response from the vendor bitchin' that I return items too much.:$

Not that I like the practice of returning (believe me, I hate doing this kind of stuff). But I expect good product for large sum of money paid.

ha ha lmao...

Oh CMS40 will get here today! YAY YAY! I finally listened to AudioTruth as he recommended the 40 too. :)

The CMS40 takes the trophy home...

The CMS50's are going back. Will be getting the pair of CMS40 as it has clearly superior mid-range openness and more air in the treble region. It just sounded wider. :)
I came across this thread because I've been considering the CMS40 (and Adam Artist 3) for my computer desktop system, so appreciate someone who sits down and tries to make a systematic comparison, even if they keep changing their mind about what to keep. One thing to note about the AE lower end is that both the 2 and 5+ were intentionally bumped up at around 125-150 Hz, if I remember correctly, which gives the lower end a greater sense of fullness than it actually has and makes the overall sound more attractive (warmer) to a wider audience. I decided to keep my pair of 5+ for my living room 2.0 TV set up (with Grant Fidelity Tube Dac 11) only because they come with a volume remote. They seem to be the only audiophile level company including one, which is too bad for those of us whose TV audio options are limited and want to keep it simple.

Wuhahahahahahaha

$200 Audioengine A2 speakers Vs. $1000 Focal CMS 40 studio monitors

Who wins????

Don't know yet.

Music and Music Sound isn't a sport, so, there can not be any competition...
People do like different sounds, different setup's, different sources of music...

Grown man are acting like a children nowadays - who's have what and what's better...
It's not a kindergarten to compare toys...

Audioengine can be better at times or vice verse...

I might believe that some buy that kind of gear to listen mp3...or aac...

In April of 2013 I did go to Audio Show in NYC...
What can I say? some high end audio sounded terrible, some did sound unbelievable...
But it might be my liking of sound - everyones has their own...no rules, specs or techs for that...
Room...where do you listen to music? everyone has same rooms?

There can not be any competition to sounds or music...can be just opinions...

What would Beethoven, who was deaf, would have to say about sounds of music?

The problem with large front channel speakers is that they lack high's and mid's. Also often sound muddy. This is usually found in WALMART or TARGET grade speakers that you buy. ;)

Damn, I'd better get rid of my Studio 60's then. Heaven forbid I own large floorstanding speakers that lack highs and mids......

Oh wait, they don't. You must be new.

The BOSE setup I had previously was before I became a "true" "audiophile"...

And you're still trying, despite wasting all that money.
