Hello i have an old Sounblaster Live! 5.1 soundcard. The issue i have is that it only seems to play 4 channels at one time when i it can play all the channels perfectly well when only any of 1, 2, 3 or 4 channels are connected to the subwoofer of my speakers but i can never get 5 at the same time.

I am using a Creative program called Creative Audio HQ. When i test my speakers with this program in the 5.1 configuration and say for example the rear-left speaker is disconnected from the subwoofer, I can hear front left, front right, center, pause, rear-right. When i connected my rear-left speaker i get front left, front right, pause, rear left, rear right as if i have removed my center speaker cable from the subwoofer when i have not touched it. It seems almost as if my system is programmed as a 4.1 configuration but i have used the program to make it 5.1. Can anybody offer me any advice?

I forgot to mention that i have used this card flawlessly for about 3 years and for about 1.5 years i have had this problem and not know what to do to help it.

Do you have analog or digital speakers? Digital speakers only have 1 output for all the channels, and analog speakers usually have 3 stereo outputs. What model speakers are they?

You can check in Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Volume Tab > Speaker Settings Area > Advanced, and see what mode the output is set for. Howevere, the creative Audio HQ usually overrides that setting, sometimes without keeping them synchronized. I just use the Createive Audio Console for my SB Audigy.

Ummm im not sure whether they are analog or digital. All i know about the speakers is that there is 5 speakers and a (very powerful!) subwoofer.

The model of the speakers is:
"Cambridge Desktop Theater 5.1"
" DTT2200"

Ah ok. My speakers in windows were set to "Quadraphonic" and now i have changed them to "5.1 surround sound speakers" although there is no change to the sound and my center speaker is still mute.

Ive tried 7.1 Home Theater and 7.1 wide configuration but no change either.
