I wish I was smart enough to rip people off and make them happy at the same time.

oh my those reviews are simply priceless :awe:

this is why i'm kind of into audio but don't consider myself an audiophile because that implies a high degree of irrationality.

I used that socket in the past, but I decided it was coloring my sound too much. Now, whenever I want to listen to music, I just shut down the main breaker to the house and hard-wire the electrical conductors in the wall to my power plugs on my amp and CD player. The sound is now much clearer and transparent. The sound stage is fuller, airy and natural sounding.

Fuck that, my audio system runs off 435 bicycle dynamos, pedalled by virgins.

Honestly, if I had more money than God to build a home-theater/music room costing +$10K, I would buy these just for shits and giggles. After a point, the money just doesn't matter.

No way. I'd get stickers of Sully and all the monsters from "Monsters INC" and have them professionally applied to regular value wires, and proudly display my Monster Cables.

But it uses oxygen free copper ! What do you mean it doesn't matter ? Well it must be the unique design ? Oh , the design doesn't really add to anything a $1 outlet provides ? Well it must be the gold plating then ! Gold plating makes little difference at voltages 100+ Well it must be that I have too much money and need someone to spend it for me ! Yep, you got it !

You laugh, but you haven't tried it and you haven't tried good quality power cables either. People that know stereos do the whatever they can to have good power cables and that includes the outlet as well.

You nimwits probably have dimmers in your house as well, enjoy your noise!

i have a dedicated circuit for my tv, stereo and accessories. i also have good 20A leviton outlets on that circuit. they look exactly like that "audio grade" thing in the link, but they only cost like 2 bucks a piece. i got em for free at work, along with the wire and install by my electricians. good quality doesnt have to cost an arm and a leg, and it doesnt have to have the word audio stamped on it.

The issue with audiophiles is the law of diminishing returns. There is a feeling you get when you go from cheap headphones to $70 Grados or Senns. It's like you're hearing the music for the first time again because you hear new parts of the music. If you get hooked, you keep on trying to recreate that feeling. You move to $200 headphones and buy a dedicated headphone amp and you get the feeling again. However, the jump wasn't as big this time. So you move up and buy multiple sets of headphones and multiple amps to try to get some "synergistic" effect. At this point, whatever difference is minor at best even if you've trained yourself to hear nuances in the music more. Maybe there is an slight, audible difference when you buy a $2000 power cord, $150 wall socket, and $5000 on interconnects. However, you probably spent 10 grand on trying to recreate even 5% of the jump from disposable ear buds to an entry level set of cans. Like getting an object to go the speed of light; there is a wall at the end. It takes more and more energy or money to get closer to that wall, but you'll never get there.

Sounds like drugs, we need a twelve step program for this.

On another note that reviews are priceless, now all the need is equally expensive wiring from the box to the outlet.

Someone needs to take them (audiophiles) back to the bench so they can take a peek under the cover of their amplifier. You may be surprised at what you see wiring wise between final stage and output terminals!

Heck we pulled the cover of one of our Yorkville LS1208 subs (2000W 18" scoop pro audio) and found the wiring inside to be quite wimpy. I'll find a pic and post it! Yet the SJO running between these stacks and the K10 amplifiers (12kW 2Ω) is 10 gauge for seventy feet! :D
