I've been playing Wc3 and Fifa2k3 with this card in and I have to say that the sound is incredible. Playing Mp3 is pleasant on this card. The hisses are very minimal and the clarity......dayummmmm.....................:)

Time for some CS. :D

Enable the clean-up features in the EAX control panel to minimize the hissing. :)

Chiz

I thought the clean up features only work is Cmedia player??

I have not heard an Audigy 2, but I'm sure its great, but my game theater XP does me good, but anyways my real reason for posting is to provide this link to the M audio revolution 7.1 that mentioned early in the thread that you asked about. If i don't stick with my GTXP in my HTPC, I will likely put this or maybe the audigy 2 in it.

The MSRP is $99. This is a consumer targetted product, unlike their other cards.

And then technically anything that is created from a CDs source other than a bit-for-bit perfect copy is going to loose quality and not be CD quality.

heh, Kazaa shows my LAME VBR MP3s as 128kbit/sec. Sadness your friends aren't going to download them :D

You're absolutely right. I use the Fraunhofer codec @ 192k w/ high quality on. Anything less and I can tell a distinct difference. Otherwise, I only hear a difference when I hear it on a good system or headphones; they always seem to bring out the worst in music, but they make the best shine at the same time.

Shoooooo.....go away. :D The monster is dying. :D

I still have one, and other than a problem with a game now and then, it works awsome and sounds awsome. The bundled winxp drivers work fine also. Still no real reason to get rid of it.

Is there any significant difference in sound quality during auido playback between the Audigy 1 and the Audigy 2?

I noticed the sound difference from Live to Audigy2 though. Not too sure about the Audigy. :D

i guess there arent too many Audigy 1 users that could justify the cost of buying the AUdigy 2 just yet. I had the SB Live! Value and I loved it and I dont think I would have been missing too much if i had not upgraded to the Audigy.

To my ears, yes. On par with my Santa Cruz when playing music. For gaming, audio quality is about the same, however the performance hit with EAX HD games like SOF2 and Jedi Outcast is noticably less. I swore off Creative for a short time after my experience with the original Audigy, but the A2 brought Creative back on my good side. The driver releases has been really good too, three updates since it's release 4-5 months ago.

since we are on the topic of creative sound cards recently one of my outputs died:( therefore leaving me with only one working sound output, I can no longer use my 4 speaker klipsch setup :(:( I purchased this retail from buy.com I believe a couple years back. I no longer have the org. box or anything, does anyone know what the warranty is on these cards?

Absolutely NO highs on this card whatsoever. While some "audiophiles" prefer a "flat" sound, to me that "flat" sound is just BLAH.

There's ZERO equalization on the outputs with this card. There's at least Bass/Treble hardware equalization with the Audigy 2. Bass is usually left flat with the Z680's I have, but treble definitely needs a boost most of the time. And Winamp's own EQ stinks compared to the Audigy 2's internal controls.

I hate my Audigy Platinum. Purchased a nice Logitech z680 speakers and was looking forward to hooking them up to my computer. I tried going out form my SPDIF but upon doing so, I only got sound out of my front left and right speakers. No center or rear channels. The Logitech z680 are 5.1 speakers. I configured the Creative Labs mixer correctly. DVD DTS pass through works just fine. My external DVD player works fine. I just can't get this damn Audigy working correctly in 5.1 mode. I've read alot of people having the same problem I am on Google.
