Does it (or anything other than N-Force) do real-time 5.1 encoding?

The soundcard market has been pretty stagnant for quite some time.

THe SB audigy 2 is out. I noticed that they support 6.1 channel sound. Does anyone know of sub $300 6.1 quality speakers?

From what I know, it doesn't do real-time 5.1 encoding..

from what I understand, the audigy2 is true 24 bit throughout the card, not just 24 bit internaly with 16 bit D/A convertersOriginally posted by: Mavrick007

Does the Audigy2 actually have it? Or is it like the original Audigy?
Same here. It would be practically worthless for me to upgrade the the Audigy 2 (let alone the original Audigy), since all I ever listen to music through is my rca wireless headphones (they aren't particularly quiet in the background noise dept.) I would get some decent speakers and use them, if only I could convince my parents that the music I listen to (mostly classic rock and metal) isn't evil...Originally posted by: Soulkeeper
can you actually notice the difference ??
i'm still happy with my sound blaster Live!
