Have you found a way to prevent the scorch marks around the nails ? I prefer to cook mine using DC vs AC , just a taste preference :D
After putting the nails through the hotdog, I adjust the clamps holding the nails (inside one holed rubber stoppers) to put the hotdog under slight compression.

OMG! Presto actually patented and sold that device! I used to always joke around with students that I should patent it and sell it - but if I did, some moron would bypass any lock out and stick their finger in there, get shocked, survive, and sue me into oblivion. Ditto the day I learned that caffeine could be absorbed through your skin (around 1985 in organic chem) - I thought "caffeinated soap!" Then I thought "some trailer trash person will leave a baby in one of those baby bath things for 3 hours with 8 bars of soap, giving the baby an overdose, and then suing me into oblivion.

Coffee mugs at home get hot when we heat milk in the microwave, could use those instead.

I just heat the poptarts for 18sec in the microwave and eat it. Not as good as the toaster but better than cold.

I could use some caffeinated soap.
