Just laugh it off. Reminds me of the time I ninja looted in a group due to inexperience...I'd never grouped really, and the whole dice-rolling thing was totally new to me, so I grabbed a box thinking that everyone else had looted it first. I took some flak but it was all in innocence.

my wife accidentally rolled on a blue drop from the mage leader in SM. She was very upset - she couldn't even use it. It was a bad time but we recovered somehow :)

You can fear in instances, as long as the mobs nearby are different races. Example: Fearing spiders into orcs / etc. This is always a trial and error thing though, finding which mobs will assist and sometimes its just best to ask a higher level warlock if they know (Warlocks usually get tasked with fearing because theirs is single target and they don't have much else to do during combat).

There were a few things you learned on this run that were key, you can't run back to your corpse in an instance as a ghost, you respawn at entrance. You can't get water from a warlock. The rest was pretty much stuff they failed to tell you. At level 36 you weren't too low for the zone, considering thats around the level that I did the zone correctly (group of 36-40s I believe).

You guys had a level 55 hunter, and I'd place most of the blame on him, as he should have known better. At 55 most of the crap there should have been no problem for him. He should have cleared the way through the courtyard with the understanding that you'd agro a lot. He should have told you where to stand for the Lord and cleared the mobs to him properly.

I used to solo the guy who sleeps in the back of the cathedral with my druid. I also ran my friends mage through the cathedral and the library multiple times when he was level 37. One thing I learned is that it was best for him to sit out most of the combat to ensure he didn't get agro. They should have done the same for you.

These are some good reasons to go back to the monastery Warcrow:

Illusionary Rod (One of the best mid - game's staffs. I used it until I was 50 with my shaman and got a staff off Maraudon to replace it, and even then, the Illusionary Rod had better stats - I only took the other one because it had better DPS... a non issue for a priest like you). It will last you a while, and you can enchant it too make it last longer. It also looks nice)

Whitmane's chapeau

Beguiler's robes

I also suggest going with a group in which no one is too low nor too high. That way you learn to work together with people of your level without making it too hard or too easy. A lot of people do low level intances with the help of one or two sixties and never really learn to play their classes because they are used to EZmode with a 60 warrior who could solo the instance

I'm really really looking forward to getting all of those! :)

WoW is my first PC game. I was the greenest rookie one will ever meet.. I?ve made countless mistakes but I?ve learned so much from them. It?s easier soloing alone in regards to your disappointments. When you make a mistake no one else is affected. By all means, this doesn?t mean you should avoid grouping.

I?m not knowledgeable to give you advice on how to play your character. Hopefully, I can help by giving you some direction on how to learn the game. This is not a good approach if your goal is to level quickly.
I found the best way to prepare myself for the instances was to first group with guild-mates outside the instances. Try to choose a group within your level. Once you feel comfortable playing your char. within a group, start entering the instances. I continued doing the DM?s and SM long after I completed my quests.
It took me a long time to feel comfortable playing in an instance and I had a lot to learn.

I hope you are as lucky as I am to be a member of a guild with a lot of heart and soul. If not, you should seriously consider joining one. My guild-mates have taught me more than I could ever learn reading a manual. Their patience in teaching this rookie has been outstanding. By grouping with guild-mates, they know your weakness, your strengths, will give you advice, answer any questions you may have and will forgive you if you make a mistake. Throughout the entire game you will make mistakes and feel as though you have let them down. I think this is a normal feeling for all of us.

I don?t enjoy the end game instances. But I?m always excited and proud of my guild-mates who have fought and beat the toughest of bosses and quests. Eventually you will decide what type of WoW game you enjoy playing. I?m not a serious gamer as many of my guild-mates but I betcha I have as much fun as they do. Isn?t that what game playing is all about?

Scarlet Monastery bosses have such a small loot table it shouldn't be a problem, just redo the instance again. :)

Dont feel bad, this is the downfall of this game. Since solo ability in this game is so easy the only time you ever group is tough quests or instances. Thus most people feel completely clueless at first when they start grouping.

IMO the lack of forced grouping is what ended up making the game a FPS more than an MMORPG and why i ended up dumping it 3 months ago.

I've run SM probably 50 times, and can say with some strong confidence that most of the problem was that your group was a bunch of idiots.

36 is a bit low for that section of SM, but there's no way a 36 should have trouble with a 55 hunter and 40+ everyone else.

I'm on the verge of quitting also. Character advancement just requires too much of a time commitment once you hit lvl 60. The only thing keeping me around is the new content in the upcoming patch.

Anyone playing on Lightbringer?
The Knights of Nef are still willing to accept you as a member on Bronzebeard. :)

Where is that server located?

I think it's located on the moon, because every time I tried playing there I would lag out and start sliding around every 15 minutes.
