No new action in here? Looks like trying to get my current rig back up and running is going to be a lost cause. So I'm ready to build.

There are so many different good options today! Strictly from a gaming standpoint, I would propose something like this to start:

Though AMD does provide some very compelling alternatives that in many use cases provide more CPU power per dollar. For a pure gaming rig, usually Intel maintains a slight advantage.

For your own specific needs, you could always start a build thread following these guidelines:

I need to do a new build. I need a CPU, Motherboard, SSD (1tb), Hard drive (4tb), Video card, Power supply, RAM. My budget is $1,600 I will NOT be overclocking and this build has to last for 6+ years. Reliability is a big deal in my case. I can't afford to dump money into builds every 2-3 years. My current rig is 6 years old.

Tailback, if i were you i'd start a new build thread in this forum. As you have a higher budget we can help you better with your own thread.
