I agree with the pepper spray suggestion. That shit will take down a bear.
 that or a walking stick. Anything else will risk a hand injury.
Please do report it. You were in public and attacked.
Am I on solid ground being a street skater? Over the years I've had 2-3 cops yell at me to get out of the street from squad cars, is the reason I ask this.
You could have been dressed up for cosplay on a unicycle as far as that matters.
Report it for sure to protect the rest of the public. Think if you had been a little kid and that dog grabbed your face🙁

You should carry a stick. 3 or 4 feet long wood or even pvc. All the older people I see around here carry them just in case. Most dogs wont jack with a person that swings a stick at them.
How the hell is he going to carry a 3-4 foot piece of PVC with him ?

The alternative to that would be a telescoping ASP baton.

In his hand? how else? I see 80 year old grandpas doing it. IMO its worth it.

No. No. No.
Owners don't have much money.

Do they have an electric fence? Sue that company.
Also sue the township or the city.

No sense suing someone if they can't ever pay it. 😉

My dad brings a hefty walking stick with him after being bitten a few times over the years.
Most of the neighborhood has those underground fences now, but in the past a lot of people liked to just let their large dogs roam free in their yards. Still, electric fences aren't foolproof.

"Beth! Bear mace that guy! And that guy!"

Yes, pepper spray should do the trick too.

No lasting injury to the dog, assuming he gets the stuff washed out in a reasonable amount of time, and hopefully he'll think of that again the next time he's about to chase someone.

Just call Animal Control. Describe the incident, dog and location. If the dog is re-contained, they'll do a quick search of nearby yards for any dogs fitting the description, and note it for future incidents. Had you called Animal Control immediately after the attack (from some sort of safe place), they probably would have dispatched, met and searched with you. A lot of cities/counties have policy to automatically take the dog away from the owner in bite cases, only releasing the animal after a court appearance. Or, after a certain number of complaints or evidenced cases, the dog gets put down.

While on roller skates???

What would I do? If it attacked me or someone I was with, I'd choke it till it was dead.

You should carry pepper spray.

I have not seen grandpa on skates do it. But I can carry things while I skate. If you are not comfortable with this the pepper spray is also a great idea.

Contact you local Sherrif's dept, they should be able to tell you whom to contact with animal problems. The owner should be cited for allowing their dog running at large, and you may be able to get the dog classified as a vicious animal since it repeatedly attacked you off of the owners property.

Don't take this lightly, yesterday a local woman here had to have her arm amputated after she was attacked by a bull dog while she was jogging.

Maybe you could try micturating on it and see what happens?

This is the best solution(to all problems really) and totally worth looking up the word "micturating"

As far as what I would do when attacked by a dog; a quick kick to the face/throat is often effective. I wouldn't know what I'd do if attacked while wearing skates because I'm not a homosexual. 😉

I kid, I kid.. Some of my closest friends are homosexuals and they wouldn't be caught dead on roller skates..

LOL, still kidding.. c'mon, lighten up 🙂
