ATT U-verse frustrations

As far as I can tell I am in some sort of Uverse deadzone. I know people from work that live within a few miles of my house, both to the north and to the south, that have Uverse. The suburbs of my city now have Uverse available. But when I contact ATT to find out when/if it'll be available for me they just tell me to check the availability website and won't give me any other info.

Will contacting my state utility regulatory commission work? My dad suggested this to me. He called them once when ATT was dragging their feet on hooking up my parents' phone in their new house, and after the phone call they had phone service the next day. I just don't know if this falls under their jurisdiction, or if there are other options for finding out when/if I can get Uverse.

I am stuck on crappy DSL that doesn't even work as fast as advertised, and Uverse would save me a lot of money. I'd get FIOS if I could but Verizon is not available in my area.

uverse is DSL as far as i know.....its DSL, Dish Network & VOIP using your DSL Connection....from a tech standpoint its kind of crappy

Id rather have Road Runner, Directv & Local Phone Provider than have uverse

Uh, why would your state's utility regulatory commission care whether or not you can get U-Verse? Its still a fairly new product that they're rolling out? I don't have U-Verse in my area yet either. They're saying later this summer, but who knows?

Calling your PSC will work in that you will get an answer, one way or the other. If you cannot get DSL then the line build out in your area will not support Uverse.

It's Fiber to the Node instead of Fiber to the House like Verizon. It's just a question of whether or not they've gotten the necessary lines laid in your neighborhood. It's been slow rolling it out but it seems to have picked up in recent months.

U-Verse is available in some parts of the metro Atlanta area but not for my neighborhood. But, I'm still getting 6meg DSL. That's all that really matters to me.

So what did the website say?

Not available in your area. It's said the same thing for nearly a year. I just don't understand why they would expand into just about everywhere else in my city, as well as the suburbs around it, but skip my little section. Seriously, I know a guy 3 miles south of me that has it, and another guy maybe 5 miles north of me that also has it.

It could be anything from an equipment ordering problem to permits. Be patient they will get to you eventually.

he wants the fiber package associated with uverse.

ATT keeps calling me every week to switch to them over RoadRunner.

MAX
10 Mbps
Upstream up to
1.5 Mbps

Thats not DSL speed. 😛

However no one on my block uses cable anymore because of very bad outtages. Stupid Road Runner. So everyone went on DSL.

They fixed the Node, and now i dont need to worry about bandwith. So, like this guy, i'll stay on road runner until people start loading up on it again.

U-Verse is IPTV (real IPTV, not overlay like FIOS) which is / can be bundled with VDSL up to 10/1.5, and in some markets, voice too ... all over VDSL on existing copper.

For new construction, it is also delivered on fiber to the prem, but again, it' has IPTV, not digital overlay (like FIOS).

Currently, you can get four set-tops, all HD capable (though only two can be viewed concurrently in HD mode), 40 HD channels (and growing) and 10/1.5Mbps DSL for ~$130.00.

I'll be getting it in July.

They do not pre-release availability info for competitive reasons, if I understand it correctly.
