Serioulsy, google it and hopefully you and those who read this thread will learn something at least today :|

/rant

Oh cmon, the guys in general hardware use it all the time. It's an efficient way to type something. Like, OMG, or WTF, or P&N!!!!

PCI-e or PCIE or PCI-E are the same, PCIX is not.

Well he's on the "I don't give a flying fvck about computers anymore" list so I don't think it really matters if he calls it pcix.

I definitely don't care quite as much as I used to.

In the past, I would have been flipping out about upgrading to 939 and PCI-E from my 754/AGP rig. Now, I'm like "meh." I just don't feel like reloading everything and tweaking my settings to the way I like them.

Meh. I show up in ATOT after GH & C&C are dead ass slow. Like a 5 am. Thus, I still focus most of available funds and energy on the computer.
Tas.

It's not that I don't care... it is just things have worked so well for the past 3 years or so. I want my next pc to be a really awesome mini-atx... but everytime I sit down to figure it all out I get distracted and never go back.

Don't care. I deal with them all day long so I just want to go home to my Mac at the end of the night:p

i tend to make up for my non-interest when it comes time to upgrade.

all i do at the moment is play KOTOR 2. everything is running fine, although i do notice a few artifacts in the cutscenes. little green squares...

I got tired of popping it open everyday to do some crazy ass suggestion that gets me a hole half a degree cooler or quieter. I got tired of having stacks and containers of parts laying around doing nothing. I got tired of blowing money on some new part with every paycheck.

I bought a shuttle, put it together, and I've only opened it up to vaccuum it.

I sold as many parts as I could, gave some away to friends, and generally dwindled the spare crap I would never use down to 0.

I only buy stuff that is a big improvement over some old part. 17in. CRT to 2005FPW... winner. Plain ole' cordless mouse to MX1000... winner.

Lol I havn't overclocked in over 2 years. Still running a 1700+ and I have the money to upgrade if i really wanted. Just can't be bothered these days, it runs and does most things i ask of it. Money now goes on digital camera... actually no it goes on glass.

I care, but can't afford to purchase new stuff right now. I'm hoping that come Christmas I find a couple of much wanted toys under the tree (LCD & vid card) ...

I don't use my computer for anything taxing enough to upgrade it like I use to do, now i live by the "eh? it's good enough for what i need" rule. The only think i do that taxes my computer is Source games and maybe some random video encoding. Neither enought to justify buying something new. Some day I'll upgrade...maybe.

I stopped following new hardware as much, and I stopped trying to upgrade my own computer every 10 minutes, but I still use computers the majority of the day.

In my situation, I think its cause I have a kick ass system already. A64 3500 and a X800 video card. Almost a year old, and I still feel its a great system. Only thing i am seriously thinking about getting is a replacement flat panel with a lower response time.

All I really use my computer for is recording TV shows and then burning episodes to DVD. Other than that I use my work laptop all day for email and everything else. I can't remember the last time I played a game or anything like that.

I did reformat and install XP over again a couple weeks ago because it had been over a year but that's about it.

Until it's time to upgrade this computer, I'm not screwing around with it.

I don't game anymore because it's a huge waste of time and money and I don't like the way LCD monitors behave with games. Without that anything more than 2 gHz is really just for bragging rights. So these days I mostly care about quietness/reliability and now Dell can build them cheaper and better than I can. I still have a pretty fast computer anyway.

In a way, it's nice to have a computer that's so difficult to tweak. Keeps me actually doing things instead of just endlessly messing with it. A little less stress in my life.

I don't tweak or play with hardware at all anymore. I am now limited to keeping my programming skills up to date. A kid will do that to ya.

QFT. Before my daughter came along I had a lot more free time - so spending 4 hours messing with fans, heatsinks and RAM timings to get that extra 200mHz out of the A64 was still mildly entertainig. But now I have about 2 hours of time to myself most days. I'd rather spend it doing something rewarding, or just relaxing.

Yes, I do, but I don't have the time to fool around with my own stuff anymore. Only time it gets fooled with is when I need more disk space or something stops working.

I sue to build and service computers for a living. Due to that it got so where I hated working on them. These days I just let my wife deal with them.
