I can draft anytime

Btw, I feel like H2H would be more enjoyable to 1st timers and allow people to stay active.

ok, i sent an email out to those that sent me PMs.

i forgot that I wanted to do a live online draft. I have it set for this Wednesday at noon EST. I would be able to change it but I wanted to get it setup early in case everyone can participate for that day. You do not have to be there for the draft - simply setup your draft list and the computer will draft for you. It is more fun if you can attend the live draft and do it yourself.

Let me know what days/times are best for the draft.

Thanks!

Any night other then monday works for me.

Some requests:

Keep the 5x5 scoring but change the draftable positions: at least 4 OFs, a MI and a CI spot as well as a 2nd catcher. You should bump the pitcher slots up one, so you have 3 SP, 3RP and 3 P spots. That's pretty standard stuff 🙂 Also, H2H is good for me too.

Naw, I dont really like your suggestions. there are hardly any good catchers to begin with let alone having 2 on every roster. we will have 12 teams so the rosters will be pretty deep.

edit:

I sent everyone an invite through yahoo so if you have not received it just check your spam mail or send me an email directly at lalaloo

2 catchers is standard in just about every league - besides, when you have a 10 person roster, the league is shallow as hell and every team is full of superstars.

I've done 8 leagues or so over the past few years and never had 2 catchers... but then none of my leagues were especially serious, so maybe that's a standard for more serious leagues? Doesn't matter to me.

As for draft, I won't be able to do it at noon (I can nef at work but they block the Yahoo fantasy site 🙁 ), but if it's fine for everyone else I don't mind just pre-ranking and letting Yahoo auto-draft for me. Something like Wednesday evening would be best for me probably.

Hmm, never done a baseball one before but may be interested.

Me either, but it sounds fun. I love baseball, but the season is so long. Would the fantasy season last as long?

it lasts as long as the regular season does.
you dont need to do it everyday either, just set your roster up a week at a time

ahh, guess I didn't look into it, was just under the assumption you had to have someone up every time they played a game.

Well I'd be up for it, but am a complete n00b. I'd rather it be a pay league as well, so people stay active.

Alright, well, skip the two catcher slots then but for God's sake, add at least six more slots!

I don't think you understand what the settings are. The rosters include C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL

Thats 9 offensive players. You can start up to 5 pitchers per day (2 SP and the 3 P) or you can mix and match the P slots with RPs.

There are 6 bench spots and another 2 DL spots. That is a possible 24 players per team! 24 players multiplied by 12 teams = 288 players. Most leagues run around 300 deep but doing more then that is just crazy.

No, no I understand perfectly what they are. And what I'm saying is the standard league format (in your non-public Yahoo leagues) is the 23 man roster:

C, C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, OF, OF, OF, OF, OF, UTIL, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P, P, P plus an indeterminate number of bench slots - usually around 4.

having two catcher's is stupid. only change you should have is changing AVG to OBP.

going 0/2 with two walks shouldn't hurt your fantasy team.

The settings are not going to change. They are basically the default Yahoo settings with maybe one or two additional roster spots.

Please list what dates/times work best for you so I can pick a time for the live draft. Thanks!

So you want to remove average as a category?

What

The

Fuck?

Using OBP instead of AVG makes more sense than using two catchers. 😛

I'm not opposed to using it as an additional cat but as a replacement to average...that's ridiculous.

As far as two catchers goes...I don't know what to tell you. That's how everyone who plays for keepsies does it. My money league is a 23 man roster (yes, with two catchers) and NL only with a supplementary minor league draft before the main auction style redraft. And we have four keepers. Zoinks.

I've never played fantasy baseball, but I'm willing to give it a try for a free or $10 league. Any room?

I'll stay active and know enough about the game to not totally embarrass myself.

As for settings, I don't care what you decide to do.

Looks like there may be enough interest to do a pay league @ $10/team. If you are interested in doing that send me a PM along with what days/times would work out best for the live draft.
