Is anyone attempting this week's challenges?

I've been too busy this week to start yet. I'm hoping Saturday and Sunday give me a chance.

Everyone's afraid to post their winning idea, for fear that someone will simply improve on it, you darn cheater!

(Just kidding. I completely agreed that "duh, what else were you supposed to do to get it 6" tall)

Now, to be picky, how much compression was there of the post-its? I didn't see a ruler demonstrating that the structure remained at greater than 6" :p

I got a lot of AP work I want to get done this week so I wont have to worry about it for the rest of my summer break, so I probably wont do this week's challenge

2 months off from work - summer vacation. I didn't have any post-it notes around the house & didn't run out to the store (25 minutes away) to get some.

Not exactly easy to get an accurate measurement on this one...

Here's my first shot.

Rather than doing something fancy, I just pretty much made something that looks like this :p

http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/A...lenge/HorizTower1a.JPG
http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/A...lenge/HorizTower1b.JPG

I'll call it 34 inches.

I ran out of height ;)

so what will the ladies say when you show this to them?

They'll say "Wow, Fenixgoon makes incredibly lame jokes!"

;)

figure out a way to "turn on" your construction, and you'll get much more distance!

didn't work

Ok folks... last day to get your designs in.

I've decided not to do a second version of my tower. I have some ideas, but I don't feel motivated enough to take the time to try to implement them ;)

Nobody else is going to attempt a mascot?

EDIT:

I might have time to give the horizontal structure one more shot while I use the excuse of "waiting for another mascot entry" excuse.

I was hoping we'd get a horizontal structure more creative than a much better constructed version of the one I did ;)

Warning to Team Zombie and others...

I'm attempting to build something longer than 43 inches.

I'm going to wait until late night today (Sunday) to start the poll.

I'm hoping to get some creative soul to submit a mascot tonight.

This makes me a jerk, right?

Base
Side view
Tower view
Support lines

Measure 1
Measure 2

Actual measurement was 52.5 inches.

It's a little over 53 in those pictures due to the tape measure bending a bit and also a tiny bit of overhand to get it to rest on the surface of my desk.

I could not take a picture and hold the tape measure up at the same time, thus the slightly better measurement pictures than reality.

well, i tried stretching my existing build but it drooped like crazy before collapse. to find another foot will require a new build, and it would end up very similar to yours. looks like you've got me again.

So bridge building next perhaps?

I'm thinking maybe something where it's based off points so we get more variety?

I haven't thought the points system through, but something like:

+1 point per penny supported
-1 point per Penny used (in construction)
-2 points per Post-It Note used
-3 points per inch of 1 7/8" Duct Tape used
-5 points per small paperclip used

take the points from above and then multiply by the number of inches the bridge spans

Thoughts?

EDIT: I'm going to be away from computers for most of the day tomorrow, so I'll probably not close the poll until tomorrow night, if I even have time.

I may end up not starting the week 4 challenge.

This is due to lack of participation as well as the likelihood that I'll be moving a bunch of my stuff to a new place this weekend.

If someone else wants to host week 4, be my guest ;)
