The TV show specific categories are ridiculous. People that watch the shows religiously can't even get more than 6-7 (with guesses). But...go to futurama or the simpsons or stay with family guy...i don't care. I don't know any of them so it isn't going to matter for me. I'll just click on random answers on those days and hope for good guessing.

Is it better to miss a day (i.e. Family Guy day) or play all days even though you get a pathetic score on Family Guy days?

well if you are in the top 50, you get at least a point in the standings if you play. If you don't play, you get zero. So...its better to play every day, even if you get a bad score.

Standings are based on total points, not average.

And i don't think we've had more than 50 players more than once or twice.

You can't hurt yourself playing every day...only if you don't play every day.

it will pull your average points down, but who cares? its the sum of your points that determines the rankings, so even a last place is worth something. Hmm or maybe last place gets 0? Either way, just play

The top 50 will always get points. If you happen to be 51 you will get zero. that's the only way to get zero.

Could you bump up the difficulty a bit on the general knowledge categories? Kind of ridiculous when 20+ people get 10/10 and it comes down to speed. That's not a trivia contest, it's a reading/data entry contest.

Yeah, I'm going to have to vote in favor of not having TV-show specific categories. I think a category specific to Star Wars (the MOVIES) would work, because pretty much everyone here has seen those movies.

I believe he said it was he and a bunch of coworkers. Two things prevented me from just outright banning the IP address: one, in the past, there was a husband/wife duo who did quite well. Both seemed to be very nice individuals, but they were driven away by accusations of cheating. I felt really bad about that because while at first it looked like cheating, I sort of jumped the gun and made an incorrect assumption. Two, if they're cheating, they suck at it. A cheater probably wouldn't have 4 entries in one day, with scores and times all over the place. All the real cheaters in the past had one account, a time of 50 or 60 seconds, 4 or 5 right, and another account, a time of 20 seconds and 10/10 every time.

Just a few days left for the May contest! Get your entries in before June. Let's put this thread on the front page (and update the title?) every so often to keep encouraging people to play.
...okay, so I was really proud of my score today, and I want a lot of people to play to maximize my points. 🙂 Bump.
