Speaking of power I just blew $422 on a 2000w 12v inverter and 20a charge controller from Renogy. The inverter was on sale and I'll need it sooner rather than later. The 350w inverter I have on my portable power pack won't cut it for the 80v chainsaw charger since it draws a little over 400w and I will also need to run a water pump. Figured I would go for a 2,000w inverter that way I can run anything that would run on a regular 15a outlet which is 1800w. I will need to put it to the test though, inverter ratings are not always what they say they are. Reviews for it seem half decent.

Going to build a bigger portable power pack for when I go on my property. Need to get a big AGM battery too, so going to be spending around $300 on that probably. So probably like $800ish when all is said and done for this system. I suppose that's roughly what I would pay for a gas generator anyway, but at least this won't cost anything to run.

Batteries are expensive now as well.

I called out today. Just got up. It was still raining when I went to sleep. Temps had just slipped below freezing and we're supposed to be 22F in the morning. It's snowing right now.

The snow was on top of the frozen rain. I think we set a record for rainfall for the date. Over 1 inches of rain yesterday. That was before the plummet in temps to well below freezing. I remote started my car for about 15 minutes before I went out and started clearing the car of snow and the windows/wipers of their ice.

I grew up in the stuff, so it's no big deal. It's still a pain in the ass. I don't miss chiseling out my car as you would if you lived in the upper Midwest. Thinking about calling out tomorrow. Just picked up some German beer from Total Wine. I slept to 11am today. Awesome!

Went and picked up some Chinese food. What's wild is that on the way back I was stopped at a traffic light. There was this full sized new Suburban that was making the turn in front of me to get on the freeway. The SUV starts to spin. Out of control. Towards me. Fuuuuuuuu...

Obviously, I'm ok. But it was close. The guy didn't hit the sign post and the traffic light pole that are on a concrete island next to the intersection. (he went up on the island) Would have caused major damage if he would have hit them. Guy got lucky.

Always good to relearn how to drive on the snow and ice since it rarely happens here. Power is on. Internet is on. 5G coverage is on. I'm stocked up for food. Did I mention the beer?

Remember the golden rule for how to drive on snow and ice like a Southerner: No matter what, whichever pedal you are currently pressing to the floor, don't let up until you come to a complete crash.

Yeah I noticed that, needed 2 7.2ah batteries for a UPS and they're almost double what I'd normally pay. It does not scale as badly for bigger batteries like 100ah but they definitely have gone up. Really need to make stuff last long to get money's worth.

Called out again today. Decided to go grab some lunch at Joe's just after noon. Went to turn down a side road and there this full sized truck is turned sideways and has no traction. Good thing I took the turn very slow. Bad thing is I started having traction problems myself. Luckily, I was able to backup from where I came. I was then able to use the snow for traction and get moving past this troubled area. Yes, the lasagna was worth it.
