A comment on the AnandTech main site opened the memory vault and pulled out the Weitek Floating Point co-processor. The speed, oh god, the speed!

Thankfully we don't get that kind of brutal heat here. There may be the odd ball times we did but it's rare it happens.

It's 17C (63F) right now. Probably see below freezing overnight temps in less than a month from now. Almost time to stop wearing shorts. Not quite though.

Glad I'm not in the market for a laptop because after reading the AnandTech article concerning the latest releases from Intel, I have no idea what the hell they are doing anymore. "We just released a brand new series of chips that is a step backwards from the series of chips we released last month and all our chips have the same i3, i5, i7 10th Gen designations. Good luck, suckers."

I find most laptops are crap now. Because of the race towards the thinnest laptop they're basically just x86 tablets at this point. Slow and not a lot of I/O ports. What boggles my mind is that most laptops still ship with a spindle drive by default, and you need to remove like 40 screws to get to it to change it to a SSD. I kinda miss the old days of big thick laptops with tons of I/O and expansion, and easy to access the ram, hard drive etc. Some even had room to put a secondary hard drive.

I checked my electricity bill and I used 1.2 MWH last month for a 2500 sq ft house and 5 people. How on earth did the soulness redhead use 1 MWH in a bungalow with only 1 person.
