I'm about to commit a huge sin. I'm going to install windows 10 on a laptop. I could not get windows 7 to run stable on it for some reason, I think they do on purpose as they really seem to be pushing for 10 now days.

I will have to sacrifice a ram stick at the altar of GNU after this.

You say nothing of the model/hardware.

It's an Acer E5-771G. Not sure what hardware it has, and I don't want to open it. (laptops are kinda a pita to get back together haha).

This should go smooth though as they have the win10 drivers on the Acer site. I just hate the idea that it's windows 10. Some of the settings in there that sends data to MS, holy crap! I disabled it all, but from what I read every time you update it just gets re-enabled. But really I don't care enough to try to deal with it, I won't be the one using it. Going to just make it work with the programs the user wants like Office etc, maybe install Classic Shell so I can get rid of all the ads in the start menu and actually make the start menu more useful and then leave it at that. I'll tell him to save his work often though because of the forced updates. Not sure what kind of warning those give, if any.
