One of the last things I sold at NCIX was a 24 port switch to a guy who was just using it for home use, so I could see using one.

You take bare cables from all the rooms and run them into a patch panel.

You don't have to fill the patch panel. I'm probably going to buy a 48 port patch panel. Then mount it between my switches. Use 0.5ft or 1 ft Cat 6 cable to connect everything.

I feel like a patch panel would really help organize all the ports and where they are coming from.
