Oh. I forget people would use a TV + computer.

The pixel density would kill me ;)

I use my 42" 1080P set as a monitor when I build new PCs. It is the most conveniently located set and I have a DVI-->HDMI cable and it works out pretty nicely.

How much $ do you make per year before taxes? Roughly?

Heh. I need to file taxes.

Almost nothing from my university job. All of it is from my side jobs / businesses.

I own a part or two of a few growing small businesses.

I have a passionate hate for panasonic. Won't even consider them for many things. HT is one.

They do make good plasmas. I just don't like them. Yeah I'm weird.

Same aspect ration, yes, but something has to come up with the extra 520 pixels of width, and the extra 300 pixels of height.

At the end it's still a 46 inch tv. Go buy two similar tv's. One 720 the other 1080. Try them both. Keep the one you like. Easy as that.

Not that I've done this. It just seems like a good solution

The only reason my first plasma was not 1080P was because at the time, the 720P model I bought was $1700 (this was early 2007) and the 1080P model was going to be released 2 months later at $3500. I figured I could buy the 720P and within a year or two, the 1080P model would be cheap enough that I could buy it and the 720P set and the 1080P set combined would be cheaper than if I bought the 1080P set in the first place. I was right.

As a matter-of-fact, I got 3 plasma TVs (one 50" 720P, one 50" 1080P, one 42" 1080P) for the $3500 I would've paid for a single 50" 1080P in 2007.

Do you think of Plasma's as inferior to LCDs?

It also depends on the room. Is it normally super bright?

I still remember the old bit about burn-in for plasmas, I also am reading that they have higher energy consumption.

The room is, IMO, a bit dim. It's 30'x15'x9', and has a pair of 150W table lamps and eight 45W recessed ceiling lights.

Shut your beloved patriot.

Most people can't tell the difference. At 8 feet. I can guarantee it. We had a vendor who had nearly identical displays but one was 720 the other 1080.

Using a Denon DBP-2012UDCIP
Playing Transporter 3, Toy Story 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

No one from my office could repeatedly pick the correct set.

Size of the tv?

32" and below I can agree. But above 32".. You can tell the difference.

Also, did someone piss on your breakfast this morning?

I do not want a 3D television. I think the whole idea is bullshit, and considering most of us wear glasses to see things, it would be a wasted technology.

My parents will not go beyond 46" either. Given the size of the room, I wouldn't support it either.
