Again! Why is this such a ridiculous statement? Is HD cable not in 720p? Does it stretch out just fine?![]()
Mom has finally approved purchase of a television!
Dad and I get to choose it, which largely means, I get to choose it.
Stretch? If the Tv is 720p set and it's getting 720p then it's fine.
Set..| Source | Result
720..| 720.....| No problems
720..|1080p...| No problems
1080| 720.....| No problems
Jesus Allah.....| No problems
Yeah I could but I never like rocking the boat or going "crying" to the mods. Not that I haven't done it in the past. I'll keep quiet about it for now. Will see how much longer he keeps hounding me.

Yeah a good 720p display can still look fantastic. When you get up to screen sizes in the 60in range though 1080 starts to become noticeable.
The year I graduated from high school!
Er, if you have a 1080 set, and you give it 720, won't it be like putting a 1440x900 image on a 1920x1200 monitor?
Stretch?
1080 is a requirements for:
55 inch+
or Projectors

Plasma = burn in?
Yes. 1440x900 image on a 1920x1200 computer display, I'll see the distortion in an instant.
Plasma = burn in?
Not necessarily true. One thing you have to consider is whether or not you may use it as a monitor or for another PC-connected application. If so, 1920 x 1080 is much better than 1368 x 720 (or whatever the resolution is for 720p).
We still have a 50" 720p Panasonic plasma in our master bedroom and love it.
You're sitting far enough away that it doesn't matter.
I've a 49.9 inch 720p LG plasma and a Samsung 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz 3D LED (got a good deal) $560
Bought the 2nd tv for my gf but seems like my parent's are using it for the time being. I guess once she graduates I'll give it to her
