They had two MX-5's... the low traffic one was blue, in the middle of their exhibit, with a slushbox and a ragtop. My hair rubs against the interior of the ragtop. That will annoy me terribly with that sort of car.

Ah, but the other one. Silver, dark interior, fully loaded, including PRHT, for $31k.

1) The PRHT took all of 12 seconds to go up or down. When up, my head fit just fine under it. It did reduce the space behind the head, but that's not a real issue, given as it is behind you. Checking the left blind spot would be a pain, but a mirror on the right seat might fix that. Or maybe a convex on the left wing.

2) I could see the car move up and down as people got in and out of it. Lulz.

3) There's SO MUCH ROOM in the nose.

Engine centered, trans visible if you know what you're looking for, and are real careful. In front of the engine, off to the right (remember: left = driver's side), was an undersized battery, right behind the engine coolant and front fender. To the left of that was an air cleaner, further left (now beyond the motor edge) was a large fuse box. Way to the right, to the edge of the front corner, was a funny shaped windshield wash bottle. The shaping left a dead zone the size of a couple baseballs underneath the bottle over some metal body.

The ABS module is just forwards of the midpoint of the engine on the right side, sitting between the header and the right wheel well. Part of the wheelwell was plastic, which is interesting. Between right wheel well and right firewall is the most interesting thing in the motor bay - nothing. Dead space, probably a little less than a cubic foot. Off the left rear corner of the motor was probably the air conditioner and it seemed to be a few other things.

I think the stuff in the left rear corner wouldn't pose a problem from its location. The left front corner fusebox likewise shouldn't be a concern.

The right rear corner will need to receive the ABS modulator, the wiper fluid bottle can likely stay in place, but the engine coolant bottle needs to be replaced with something of different shape, and then should go into the right rear corner with the ABS modulator. The battery will need a full-sized replacement, and will likely need to move into the undersized trunk.

At that point, there will be a space from wheel well to wheel well, from firewall to fender, to replace the motor.

The GM cars still feel cheap, and the bodies are all HUGE. GM is not getting it.

The ZR1 was, of course, interesting, although you couldn't get into it. 15" carbon fiber brakes. The only Corvette you could sit in was a Grand Sport convertible. Last year, they had a Z06 and a GS to sit in, plus a ZR1 display.

Cadillac put the only CTS-V up on a spinner; last year you could actually sit in it.

That TF2 server likes to auto-balance mid life... so I got switched to the losing team while I was partway through demolishing all the stuff one of their engineers had built.
