I took it apart and found no issues. So I went to my closet to look for something and stumbled across an AC adapter for a 4 port Belkin KVM. The electrical specs were roughly the same, so I plugged it into the switch and it worked!

I guess I'll keep this guy around as an emergency backup for now. I used to have tons of backup networking equipment but I must've gotten rid of it over the years. My backup 5 port switch is on my desk at work. I used to have 8 port and 16 port hubs and I can't find them, so I must've given them away.

The threads I read indicated that the error LED patterns I saw were related to the power supply and specifically, a capacitor in it.

The switch had this same issue a few weeks ago and I powered it off and back on and it came back. I thought it was dying so I ordered a replacement then. Well, this morning, I couldn't resuscitate it so I switched it out for the new replacement.

So... if I leave the two center pins open, there's no data connection, just connect the other two.

Now, the car's cigarette lighter is 12V, with maximum current probably running 15 or 20 A.

I want to set up a USB in place of the cigarette lighter, doing 5V, and only needing 1A. That'll be enough to plug in my phone.

Or I could just buy a car charger, and put it into the center console, and charge the phone inside there. Might be a better plan, the phone can't go flying inside there.

I told her we could eliminate the Brighthouse phone service and get Ooma to replace it. I even told her she could buy the Ooma box for me as a Christmas present. I am NOT going to only use cell phones.

Anyway, that knocks off about $40. She keeps arguing with me on the other stuff. We obviously can't drop the internet connectivity but she wants to drop all the HD stuff. She also keeps arguing with me about the HD cable box we have -- I have told her at least 10 fucking times that it is the exact same price as the regular cable box.

And then, a few minutes ago, I remembered that I can make a deal with the devil and get Uverse. Debating that now. The problem with their plans is that they ream you if you don't bundle all 3 so to maximize savings at least in the trial period, we'd probably have to skip the Ooma idea.

No. I asked for a regular man's haircut. She used a 5.

3 and 4 would be ridiculously short.

Wtf is a regular mens haircut? That like ordering a sandwhich.

I'm with BoA for check deposits, Sovereign for PayPal, and ING for savings and CC payments. Discover for the CC itself.

I've misplaced my checks from BoA, so I was trying to move money to Sovereign. Checks really are archaic.

I still don't know who I want to move to :\

My parents won't move to cell only. Why won't you?

I think if ARM was 64 bit Apple would be developing their chip for their own hardware. (MB MBA MBP and iMac Mac Pro)

Alfa, you have Fargo and BOA you said?

How are you paid for work?
How do you buy/pay for things?

One company direct deposits to BOA the other direct deposits to WF
I buy everything but electronics on my Banana Republic or Chase visa. American Express for technology. Mastercard for emergency. Cash is only used if I go out to a bar/ club.

I have a hard time hearing on a cell phone. That's another reason I hate my iPhone -- my Blackberry was much better with calls. Maybe the case is obscuring the mic and speaker on my iPhone.

Also, a few other reasons: 1. Worried about coverage throughout the house and 2. 911 3. Always need to ensure phone is charged

I use Chase and PNC right now, and my wife has accounts at M&I. I really wish she would close the M&I accounts, as there isn't a branch even close.

So, if I just use ballpark figures, I think we'd save around $70 per month for the first year by going to Uverse and that doesn't include the rebates they throw at you. With those in the equation, it is more like $90 per month for the first year.

Cons? I fucking hate AT&T and swore I'd never do business with them again even if I had to pay more. Though in fairness, I did say that Uverse might be their only shot to get my business.

I suspect if we drop phone service from them that they're going to jack up the cable and internet rates so we probably wouldn't actually save $40 by eliminating phone service.

My suggestion - do something like what I do. It's pretty awesome.

Shift both direct deposits to an ING Direct savings account. Pay all credit card bills via the ING account. If you need cash, you'll need to think beforehand, move money from ING to either BOA or WF (see below), then take it through an ATM.

Regarding whether to have BOA or WF as your cash ATM access account, take the one with the most ATMs in your area, and do consider fees on ATM usage or card usage.

For the other bank account (WF or BOA), make it your PayPal account. Link that to your PP, unlink any others, and that way if PP ever decides to fuck with you, they can't threaten your major accounts.

Someone in FS/FT is selling a Micro-Cell

I'm not a big ATT fan BUT they have yet to do us wrong. Never had a problem with getting customer support to help. Have them throw in a micro-cell when you sign up for Uverse. Worth a shot.
