Go Lions!

I have nothing against the Falcons, and I think Matt Ryan will go far, but it's impossible to hate the Lions.

I'd really been hoping to see a Lions/Packers clash of the undefeated teams on Thanksgiving.

The level of awesome involved... :awe:

Somebody with Hasselback as a backup QB, and Brady as the starter for fantasy football... honestly, I'd start Brady on a bye week, at least he can't lose points with picks and sacks. :D

I figure I've repaired 400-600 dollars worth of merchandise in the past, despite it not being in my job description, not receiving any extra payment for it, and having less than the minimum tools available.

Newegg has $12 off Skyrim right now (might have expired though). My brother ordered a GTX 560 Ti and Skyrim last night and got the $12 discount using the code I gave him.

Ah... hell if I know. Have a family friend who knows law?

Given another couple hours to work on it, instead of being told to stop immediately so other things could be done, I might have been able to piece it back together, maybe working, maybe not, but visually intact. But now it's a bag of about thirty little pieces.

On my boss probably wanting $200 from me for being unable to repair a scanner, and in the attempt to repair it, leaving it in tiny pieces.

He knows you're abilities
He told you to do it
You didn't purposely fail

I think you'll be fine

My tools there... half a dozen screwdrivers, all conventional types, Phillips and regular. One pair of regular pliers, made in China. One can of WD40. Paper towels. Scotch tape.

It's nowhere NEAR what I should have for trying to fix that device. For that, I'd frankly rather be at my workbench here, with a magnifying light stand, rubbing alcohol, tweezers, electronic screwdrivers, needle-nose pliers, epoxy, and a camera.

So...

1) I'll start looking for another job, tomorrow.
2) I may tell him I won't do any other repairs unless he wants to write out contracts for them.
3) I'm not paying him for it, end of story. I'm 99% sure he cannot deduct from my paycheck without my written authorization, which I won't give. If he fires me, then...
a) My last paycheck still cannot be deducted from.
b) I liquidate part of my stock portfolio to cover expenses.
c) He loses one of only three experienced night shift people, leaving him with just two going into our busiest season.
d) I can file a complaint for unlawful termination over this, might work, might not, not worth the hassle for anybody.

Meh I find it odd that you were expected to fix it

I have a natural ability to fix things. I've been fixing merchandise for them for two years. Something doesn't work? Leave it for Bane. Piles of little electronics have been salvaged. Display case doesn't work quite right? Ask Bane. Need something assembled? Talk to Bane. Order a piece of furniture? Oh, Bane...

My only compensation for this skill has been my regular hourly payment. I like fixing things, broken things annoy me, and it gives me something to do on boring nights.

Dollar for dollar, he's still WAY ahead for what I've done. One more reason I'm quite adamant I will not pay him for this thing.
