I've been hanging on to Amazon gift cards in anticipation of my next build and have around $600 worth now. I'm just wondering if a new system is worth it.

Probably not - better just send them to me because I need a new system

Can we get a thread rename? Make the nef thread stand out a bit more?

Someone needed a new line at a jack but I ended up being able to just switch jacks instead of punching down a new line.

Man - that was a close call there - I almost had to do real work today!

Field tech at a telco?

No - I just manage/maintain our phone and rightfax infrastructure in addition to my other network/computer hardware related duties.

I used to do field work. It was a lot more fun until they started putting GPS trackers in our trucks

I have some fond memories. Being able to blow through a days work in a couple of hours because it was an easy day and then take the afternoon off. I also got to try a lot of new restaurants as well

Course I got fatter with all that driving and eating out and then there were the days where every job ran long and I got home 4-5 hours late but the good days were VERY good

Side note: Its amazing the disgusting, unkempt manner in which some people live. I was glad I didn't have to take my work shoes off at a lot of places.

Also - some people are waaaaay too trusting. I was at one ladies house and she asked if it was "Ok if I run a couple of errands? I'll be back in an hour or two."

Course then there was the old lady that told me "And I know exactly how much change is in that desk so don't take any of it!"

And the older guy who was cool as shit. I had a couple of repeat visits to him. He always took the last appointment slot and, since I usually got done early, we always shot the shit for a while. He always bought me a 6 pack which I would refuse and then insist that I take $30 for bar money!

Man - that job had some incredibly good days and some incredibly terrible days. I almost walked off the job at least 6 times
