I hate the way this is going. First thing I do on any phone, PC, etc. is disable animation. If I close something I want it gone. I don't want to see it fly away or fall to the bottom. That is childish. Granted the animation on the Mac looks the best and this is obviously where MS got it from but still I don't like the delay whatsoever.
You drive cars and like to be connected right? How will you feel when there is no steering wheel, no pedals, just a joystick and start/stop button? Yeah that's what I thought!
Some of the features of Aero are nice but the animations/fading is not. It makes me feel sick. Abhor it. Might as well be using the computer in a helicopter. Well they got the name right. Aero... :whiste:
I don't mind the animation, I actually prefer it. The instant disappearance looks unnatural. If it has sufficient tweaking options, I'll reduce the time of the animation, cut back on the flashiest of them, but I still believe they create a more natural effect.
I do not believe a car is a valid comparison here, and in any case, we already have fly-by-wire in many vehicles. I know the steering wheels on many cars have a higher response rate at low speed and a lower rate at high speed. Throttle modulation is purely electronic; putting my car in snow mode reduces to the response time. It doesn't bother me. I'm not that much of a purist.
There are a few things about Aero I don't like, but none of them have to do with the fading effects, the transitions, or the animations. Some of them, such as the ability to preview things or fade for the desktop, I like. The animations in general are much better to me than snapping screens.
