And now it's a plagued relic; plagued by vague hardware issues and software bugginess, a relic of a hobby that is now dead to me.

Good lord, get a new motherboard and CPU and swap them out if you're convinced it is a CPU/board issue. A 2500k or 2600k and board isn't that expensive and you'll easily hit 4+ Ghz.

I could probably sell both of my GTX 460's for a single GTX 560.

Not sure how much performance that will lose, but it'll clear up the tearing, might quiet the PSU back down, drop the heat level, et cetera.

Actually, then I could go back to using my Blood Rage motherboard, instead of this eVGA.

Well I sincerely doubt you burned out the CPU in 2.5 years unless you were using insane voltages.

Around 1.4 core, and I forget the rest. I think all the displays were still showing blue/green except the VDIMM, and that one was Corsair-certified.

So it's a design flaw that means a 950 W PSU squeals while loaded to a third of that value.

My three year old TX 750 is ghostly quiet. Good work, Corsair!

The 750 might be able to handle the SLI, but it'll be at stepped load while idle, and it still means tearing apart the system, and then the 950 is sitting doing nothing.

Next time, I think I just sell all of it and start from scratch. Except a handful of high capacity hard drives to store the massive quantities of data.
