Had a power outage last night for a few hours, I think most of the city was out. Saw a flash, power went out, came back for a second, flashed, went off again, did that a few times then was out for good. Guessing the recloser was activating then locked out. Came back decently quick though, within maybe 2 hours. This has been quite the storm system.

Load tested my new 48v 1200w inverter and my 48v rectifier at same time. I had it powering a couple switches, routers, and a 150w bulb. Then it died when I put in a heater on low. That was a bit concerning as it was below the 1200w rating, then I realized I was connected on the battery side of the rectifier, and I had previously set a very low current limit when I was testing it, so it was doing it's job and limiting current. I removed the limit and it was powering the heater fine. I was pulling around 1100w total. I rewired it so it's on the proper part of the rectifier, and tested again and all is good too. I was also getting a rectifier overload with just one rectifier installed but then realized with this load I was in fact pulling about 22 amps and the rectifiers are rated for 20 amps. The shelf takes 3 rectifiers so I will want to run all 3 to be safe, that will give me 40 amps of redundant power, which comes up to around 2kw which I don't expect to exceed.

I have some battery spade connectors on the way, so once those show up I will make a proper wiring harness for a temporary 7.2ah battery bank then it will essentially be a fully operational dual conversion UPS. Long term goal is to put in a bigger battery bank, but I think for now I'll hold off on that expenditure. Looking at about 2k per string. 2 strings will run my rack for about a day. I think 1 string will be enough really... especially once I setup automation to transfer it to solar.

Kind of glad I'm this close to a proper 48v battery backup system. Only been over 10 years since I wanted this lol.

Installed a new headshell today. Decided to get one that would match up better with my high profile cartridge. It's been bugging me since I first installed it to the headshell that came with the turntable. Mounted the cartridge, adjusted the balance, tracking force and alignment. Tested it out on Houses of the Holy. I think the tracking has improved.

The tracking is better. There's noticeable improvement to the sound. Playing U2's The Unforgettable Fire and it sounds great. It sounded bad the last time I played it. That's when I was wondering if I should have gotten the head shell when I bought the cartridge.

I had the weirdest dream. Was driving to work, and I kept zoning out at the red light and missing the green. When I would catch myself as it was turning yellow and try to go the truck wouldn't go. Then finally managed to get through it and the traffic was getting worse and worse to the point I was scared of hitting other cars because I was no longer controlling from inside, but more like a video game, but it was a weird angle so it was hard to judge distances between other vehicles. Made it into work, I sit at my desk and like "sorry I'm late... wait where's my stuff?". Turns out all the desks had moved and new ones added and I got moved to a new spot, as they added like 10 more people in with us. Then I was frustrated since I couldn't even find my computer. Found an old Packard Bell computer in a corner and I grab it and I'm like "guess this is going to be my computer now".

My job is not even stressful, so guess my dreams need to make up for it lol.

Yay my battery connectors came in. Can finish building this battery pack and ready to install it. Once I feel confident with my connections I'll set this up semi permanently to run my workstations. The end goal of this setup is to run the whole server rack on a bigger battery but the workstations will at least make a good test before I go further with this project.
