Did maintenance on my UPS batteries. One of the batteries is from 2015 and still going strong. Not bad for cheap Motomaster batteries. The previous model of that battery was problematic for having cells randomly short out internally, which if not caught fast enough would kill the other batteries too. But I'd normally catch it as the hydrogen level in the server room would go up. The run time when I do a discharge test would also be very poor, not to mention how hot they would get.

I had finished off my Glenfiddich 12 Year last night. Was at Total Wine after lunch to pick up a new bottle. Ran across this on my way to the check out. Way beyond my budget. I would love to try a shot. That's $2,375 a shot!

Sorry whiskey-drinkers/enthusiast's but this is just absurd. ;)

Just paying over $2k for the whole bottle would be silly enough.

To be fair, storing a cask for 50 years alone is an expensive proposition that would likely take it well above $1-2k for a bottle even if we're just talking PURE cost to the distiller and no added charge for prestige or rarity.

I can understand some of the old stuff warranting a few grand fairly easily, though obviously this one at $38k it is playing up the rarity and exclusivity aspect more than the age.

Yeah I guess the storage is what makes it expensive. They basically have these massive warehouses that have to be kept at a certain temp full of barrels.

I recall a fire somewhere that destroyed one of those. Sad sight to see!
