Yeah, Google backs up are ok. I like to be more thorough with my backups. It's your data. I wouldn't trust that some online entity. Google's Android and their apps are a good example of SaaS.

Yeah I don't trust 3rd party service for that either. Mostly for privacy reasons. I could encrypt it, but that would be a lot of overhead. I do have backups that go to my web server but I'm more limited in space so have to pick and choose what's the most important. Online disk space is very expensive as you need to pay extra per month for space upgrades. Home disk storage on the other hand is cheap since you only pay for it once. So most of my backups stay local with only the most critical going offsite, so at least if I have a house fire or something I'd lose a big chunk of data but not the critical stuff. I might eventually put a backup NAS in the shed too for extra backups. Still need to do the solar monitor/controller though, so that I can monitor battery voltage and shut off load if it gets too low. Right now I don't want to put any permanent loads on as I risk killing the battery without a way to turn things off and send me alerts etc.

Just realized today was pay day, so just got paid.

Time to log in to my bank and pay off the credit card, and then wait for end of month bills to come out, including city taxes. Then it will be like the pay cheque never happened. 😛

City taxes are the real killer, they go up every freaking year it's getting ridiculous. Same with water/sewer. One more increase and my water/sewer is officially going to cost more than my heating bill.

Bed time nef.

But first I'm going to look at off grid property. I have an itch to buy some though don't really have the money yet but it's still fun to look. 😛

Coffee nef.

Starting night shifts tonight, may as well wait last minute to snow blow the driveway and clear the car since I'll end up having to do it again anyway lol.
