Well I think it's official, was going to try to finish the shed but I only got 1 day left before I have to work a long stretch then don't know when will be the next time I'm off after that and don't want this dragging through Christmas time. So decided I'll just continue in spring. Downside is now the floor is exposed, I tried to put a tarp but there's no real way of making sure it's sealed in, it will do more harm than good by trapping water under it as snow melts in spring, so just took it off. Going to try to stay on top of it throughout the year and shovel the snow off, so that in spring there's less snow that has to melt.

The issue with waiting till spring is trying to coordinate with the stupid rain. I think I will just take all my vacation time in june/july and hope for the best. Those are the months where it's less likely to rain. Downside is having to work in the intense heat.

I'm still aiming for a projected completion date of 2020. :p Still better than most city projects.

I moved all the shingles in the house with anticipation of shingling this year and it's better if they are warm, now I need to move them back somewhere else. Those suckers are freaking heavy! I don't know how roofers carry two at a time going up a ladder, crazy.

Should have built wall panel sections in the garage and dolly to the back and assemble.

Inspected the electrical going into my shed/carport, it's blank gray but it's 12-3 uf nm going to the first receptacle where my car plugs into, so 12amp charging is a go. I didn't want to risk it knowing how terrible the nm cabling is after the receptacle. Outdoor lights that are also on those receptacle are LED lighting so not a problem. I'll appreciate the faster charging on the Volt.

For the past couple days we haven't used a drip of gasoline, using electric only in our car. I'm telling you guys this is the future of driving. Going back to an ICE with a transmission-to-wheels configuration seems so antiquated. Our electric car has the getup (torque) of a small pickup, yet sips gas even when charging from the ICE. I'm getting a second vehicle when we can afford it and I am not looking forward to going back in time.

You don't need an electrician to install the charger?

No room in the garage to do anything in, hence why I'm building the shed. :p I had thought of that though, if I could prefab everything in the garage then I could have worked durring all those rain days and got ahead.

Next house I buy I want a huge garage though, even once I clear this one it's still going to be very small. Like one of the first projects I want to take on is a fully custom computer desk and organization drawers for electronics and that's pretty much going to take up the whole garage while it's being built.

You could make a tarp roof over the whole mess, and work in any weather you want.

I was an apprentice electrician when I was injured in the Navy. I had an outdoor switchbox that was unused (still was hot though) so I moved that box to terminate on the inside of the shed. I have a receptacle in the shed which is directly fed from the underground 12-3 nm that was installed last year. I use the EVSE portable charger and snake the end through the dummy switchbox and charge the car. My area is very prone to theft so this way they cant steal my charger unless they get through the two locks on my shed/carport.

I had thought of that, but need a huge tarp, the one I got is probably the biggest one they sell. Though if I was to do it over again I would do that, but now I'm close enough to the end that it matters less.

I just know that next time I want to do a construction project outside I will definitely think of a way to shield from the rain. Maybe even one of those large party tents you can rent. If it was not for all the rain we got I would not still be working on it.
