Random interlude before ICF yells at me: I know, this stuff is expensive, I know, I have other things to spend on, but I've come to the realization even if I never buy any of this stuff, I need SOMETHING to focus on and look towards.

Use LEDs and all those problems go away. Install a wig-wag flasher and part the rush hour traffic too.

Other point of concern. If I construct a quad projector array using a dedicated low beam in the upper segment, and bixenon in the lower segment, I have clearly destroyed the internal facing, which means there is no real need to keep low top bix bottom, they could be swapped... maybe. Anyways, quad array will have a problem with flash to pass (F2P) when the headlights are not active. Thus it comes back to leaving the projectors on continuously, or installing four sets of CCFL/LED angel eyes, and rigging those to activate only for F2P w/o headlights active, and otherwise, have the angels disabled.

Angels look great on BMW's, not so great on a G.

A flasher would get me arrested, LEDs aren't really viable as a full operation headlight, just as DRL or directionals.

Haha wrong! LED have surpassed HID lighting in intensity/efficacy and absolutely destroy anything on lumen maintenance and durability!
Don't look at cheap-ass Chinese junk. ;)

Link?

As of yet, LED's are not a viable option for cars and trucks seeking proper nighttime illumination. They generate too much heat at high power levels, and that problem would be exacerbated by using a projector housing.

Simplest option: retrofit a set of Morimoto H1's into the top housing, modify my D2R bulbs to D2S fitment, use AMP to D2S adapter, and complete a conversion for maybe $200.

Don't like that though, the Morimotos aren't up to the level of full-size projectors.

Good lord ICF, you should appreciate this conversation, Grand Prix headlights are about as bad as it gets.

85122+ is rated for 2500 hours.

So 1750 hours at 50W? I can't figure out why the reviews keep saying 55W though, since the site page says 50W, but the product name implies 55... *confused*

The OEM ballasts are known to start up a tiny bit quicker, but they cost 45% more, and aren't fully weatherproof.

They are. I have to replace a bulb every few months. I've got one burned out now that's been burned out for awhile and I've been too lazy to do it.

Rant: I will never understand people who are extreme fanboys of computer component brands. The CPU forum has been a cesspool the last several weeks with all the fighting between Intel and AMD fanboys.

Is there even an actual BD chip being tested in the wild yet? I don't understand the rabit fight without actual product
