My current rig (sig) is still ok so I can't convince the wife at the moment to let me build... so instead I'm putting time and money into my cave :p

I'm going to see how much it would cost me to upgrade after fs/ft everything

Yeah it is expensive, but I "stole" an extra gig from a couple of my other pcs around the house to bump mine up to 6gb :)

In my case, money isn't a huge issue because of my Amazon rewards. If I do end up with an I5 and a $150-$170 motherboard though, I'll have $200 or so left over for drives, another SSD, etc.

Motherboard: $60 - $70
CPU: $95
Ram: $60

Total: $215

I wonder if I can get a decent i7 cpu + mobo + ram for $275

Good luck with that. You might even have trouble getting a used i7 for less than $275, let alone the rest of the system (though you can get 8 GB of RAM for $40 or so).

It just now occurred to me: Steve Guttenburg and GW Baily antagonized each other in both Police Academy and Short Circuit.

25 years later I finally get a clue.
