I hate buying domains from such a crappy company such as godaddy

Too bad they generally have the best prices :\

Opinions: As I build my next system, I was thinking it might be time to replace all the case fans (I'm reusing my case) since I'll have the case torn apart and it makes sense to do it then. I see at least one dead fan at the top of the case (a SilenX model, I think). There are 7 case fans total and I believe 3 of them are Scythe fans and 2 or 3 of them are SilenX fans (these are crap, don't buy them!), while the remaining one is the Cooler Master that came with the case. The box has been live for 3.5 years. It is a pain to pull out from beside my desk (very restrictred space) so I think I'd rather do it now. At least one of the Scythe fans is a higher-end fan with fluid bearings and with an MTBF of 150K hours, I think I can probably keep that one but it might actually be on the CPU heatsink. Thoughts on replacing all of them except maybe the high-end Scythe?

I like ceramic bearing fans. I think they are 300k hr MTBF

I've only had one fan die. The stock fan an ATI 9800. It torched itself. The tv card in the next slot didn't last long after that either. I don't think that was a coincidence. :(

I forgot about them. I want to try to balance high MTBF with cost so I'll research them. I HATE replacing fans.

Between my friend and I, we've used somewhere around 25 Yates, mostly SL, some SM, only a couple of SH. No failures at all for either of us.

Yeah, there is a 4 pack of highly rated Cooler Master fans on Newegg for $16. That's less than the cost of the Scythe fluid bearing fan in my case now. I think maybe I should just put the Scythes in critical places and supplement them with cheap fans. I hate replacing fans but I suppose even cheaper new fans would likely last the life of my next system.

I've got $576 in total Amazon dollars now. That's a little less than I thought and will probably get me a CPU and board unless I decide to go for the i5-2500K and a cheaper board instead. I still need at least one hard drive and these fans at a minimum.

I still haven't decided what to do about the CPU HSF either. I am thinking that I will just reuse my existing Xigmatek RS-1283.
