Pulled out old 100 mbit router.
Put in latest generation 1gbit router.

Everything is faster. Even sites that I know darn well dont upload very fast. Suspect the old router made poor use of resources.

as opposed to where I am working now.

They put in 48 port (small office) POE+ switch. Then grab cheapass ip phones that only do 100mbps. Then the computers are hooked up to these ip phone's spare Ethernet port since there is only one drop to the cubicles, rendering your computer's connection to the switch 100mbps.

facepalm galore.

Installed an electrical panel for my first time.

That was the easy part. Now to go do the actual electrical part of it. :p Debating on waiting and buying some 100a feeder cable, or using existing 30a BX cable and feed with that. Either way going to run the branch circuits today. 4 new fluorescent lights going up in the server room too. Going to be nice and bright in there.

I'll also be able to fix lot of other electrical around the house that was done kinda bad due to running out of breakers. Tapping into existing circuits etc... Now I'll be able to run new lines from this panel.

I'd read up a bunch before actually doing it. As an apprentice electrician, I'm usually there on a job to fix up what a (even knowledgeable) homeowner royally screwed up on. Most of the time it's some really unsafe shit.

Lil rudeguy ran out of insulin. Had to run up to the pharmacy and get more. Good times at 1 am.

Then while I was filling up his pump, he was trying to catch one of the cats and nailed his head on this huge wooden thing hanging on the wall. Knocked all kinds of shit down and gave him a nice headache.

Poor kid.

You don't need more than 100 mbps per station :colbert:

Unless its my station :awe:

Yeah been reading up, it's pretty straight forward and common sense. Using proper wire sizes and what not.

I'm debating on getting an electrician to run the feeder though, just because by the time I buy the conduit and wire myself and install it, it may not be that much more expensive to get an electrician to do it, and at same time he can look at my work.

Yeah for a work environment 100mbps should be enough. The hospital I used to work at ran mostly on Cisco 2950's and was 100mbs throughout. That network was such a mess though. The guy who ran the cables was treating it like it was telephone and just bunching up the indididual strands together from the ceiling instead of keeping the jacket all the way to each individual patch panel jack.

I should go to bed. 5:30am, getting late lol.

Today was a lazy day I barely did anything on my basement. I really need to start booting it, this project is just dragging on.

Ewww netware lol. XP is still pretty standard though. I have yet to witness any of the work environments I deal or have dealt with upgrade to 7 (or God forbid, 8). A school board we manage finally got off netware a few years ago though.

Netware was a good idea at the time. Like, 15 years ago.

I never thought I would see netware coupled to SAN...

all of our stations are on 7, even the lappys and the cheap little (no really, they look like tiny little Borg cubes) computers for people that don't need a lot of speed. We also only use Chrome or FF, IE is disabled.
