nope, I have 2 older recievers, one has none and the other has 2 but after looking online at the manual last night says they are outputs and not input

for my setup it's not worth the $$ to buy a new receiver

list the receivers... I highly doubt there is receiver with digital out but not digital in.

it's called a RECEIVER for a reason.

I don't have the model number on me, but its a Pioneer VSX something, but according to the manual it showed them as 'out' which would explain why when attached to any of my tv's it wouldn't play from the tv

figures, I saw it on amazon last night when searching online for the manual, but can't find it now w/o knowing the exact model. not too surprising I guess considering it came out in the early/mid 90s

You don't have optical in on the receiver and optical out on the TV? I know that at least one of my Panasonic plasmas has optical out.

I will fully admit I'm not an audio guy so maybe it's possible I'm not hitting some button combo (but damn did I try last night lol) to get it to play

it's called a RECEIVER for a reason.

Receiver is a term coined from years ago integrating an amp, preamp, and tuner in one. The tuner receives broadcasts typically AM and FM. Some were FM only. (like The Fisher tube receivers with the stereo beam tuning assist fluorescent tube!) Mmmmm tubes!

Receiver is also a well built man that runs fast across a field and catches brown balls tossed by a fairly scrawny man that everyone in a line wants to pile on top of! :D

Been there, done that. Alfred Morgan was some of my favorite reading in the 70s. Of course he always mentioned "boys playing with electricity" which sounded strange - to me!
