The problem is that our cable bill (includes TV, internet, and phone) is bordering on outrageous already. That is one of the bills that my wife pays every month and at some point, I think we're going to need to pressure them to give us a discount or we'll go elsewhere.

Of course, I am not sure we're going to find a combination of services like that which is cheap enough in the long-term to justify switching.

I've always laughed that companies are willing to give new customers insane deals to get them to sign up but won't cut their long-time customers a break on a regular basis.

Refurbing her existing one would entail me getting a new hard drive and battery, loading Win7 on it, and I'd be done with it.

She has a dv6000. It has been a good laptop for her and is still adequate, but I'm concerned that an upgrade to Win 7 might be too much given it only supports 2 GB of RAM. It would work but I think she might have some issues with some things she does.

ICF, if you are refurbishing the laptop, you would end up wanting to add more RAM, the drive should become an SSD unless she saves tons of shit, and it needs a pricey new battery.

I think you are better off buying a new one.
