congrats sox, thats the only game you'll get, i mean i did predict the a's in four 🙂

YOU'LL BE WATCHING RED SOX IN THE DEEP OCTOBER WHILE A'S SIT AND WATCH AT HOME!!!

I place this loss squarely on the shoulders of tejada and byrnes. If tejada had made an effort to score the run at home plate, then the a's probably would have gotten the judgement call. Byrnes needed to look at the HP umpire and see if he was safe, but nooooo he didn't

I say macha should give them each a copy of the rule book, make them read it, and quiz them after the season. inexcusable plays.

That game had a season's worth of messed up plays in it! Tejada is a complete dumbass, a major league player should know that you finish the play first and argue about it afterwards. GO RED SOX!!!

btw I do think the umps blew that call. Here's the text of 7.06 (b):

If no play is being made on the obstructed runner, the play shall proceed until no further action is possible. The umpire shall then call "Time" and impose such penalties, if any, as in his judgment will nullify the act of obstruction. Under 7.06 (b) when the ball is not dead on obstruction and an obstructed runner advances beyond the base which, in the umpire's judgment, he would have been awarded because of being obstructed, he does so at his own peril and may be tagged out. This is a judgment call. NOTE: The catcher, without the ball in his possession, has no right to block the pathway of the runner attempting to score. The base line belongs to the runner and the catcher should be there only when he is fielding a ball or when he already has the ball in his hand.

========

The ball was not dead, and Tejada should only have been in peril if there were a base to advance to past home plate, since that is the base which he should have been awarded. He would have scored easily since the throw was offline and he was clearly obstructed at third, as indicated by the 3rd base umpire. It doesn't matter that Varitek tagged him out since he should have been awarded home to "nullify the act of obstruction."

Go Boston Red Sox.

Funny how scared Grady Little is going his bullpen. Kim is in the doghouse right now I guess?
