Why do people get so butt hurt over an Early Access game. It’s in the damn title EARLY ACCESS, game is not complete.

I can understand someone wanting a finished game and that is a fine opinion to have

I can’t understand someone buying an Early Access game and expecting it to be complete or nearly complete.

I don't get it either. I guess either they are 11 years old or don't really know what Early Access is because I've read a lot of threads threatening all kinds of strange things on a game if it's delayed 1 more out, has more than 5 bugs, etc.

I know it’s weird. I guess it’s the wants vs needs desires. I want the game now, I can’t wait and I need the game to work to my expectations because I’m spending money that is important to me.
Last sentence is where most fail. Games should not be bought with money that you need for other stuff. Games should be bought with spare money because there is an 80% chance the game won’t be what you expect.

You know, everybody was saying this is the game that Sea of Thieves should have been. However, Sea of Thieves runs extremely well on even older hardware, looks a lot better than Atlas, the netcode works fine, has gotten tons of free add-on content, and is really a fun game to play. Maybe Atlas will be there in a few years, but certainly not yet.

Although, basing this off the PoS engine they are using, and how bad ARK is to play, I doubt it will ever be good.

It's going to be in early access for 2 years. I never played Ark, but from what I hear this is a re-skin of it. So basically sounds like you're paying for EA so they can build it while you play.

Managed to get in and play for about 10 hours, had a blast, waiting to get ferried of one of the starter islands.

fyi you can pick up rocks on the beach and softwood from the really thin trees and fiber from the ground, craft the pick, then use pick on rock to get materials for axe.

Finally out of the starter areas,, much more stable there . The people that started in the freeports at launch have been locked out for a while so we had to start in the other areas and level up and build our own rafts to get out.

Give me an update if your body and stuff can be looted or destroyed while logged out.

From what I've seen on streams, the game is decent enough for early access as long as you're on a private server.

Definitely can be looted while sleeping....we have a guild house with a couple of beds and there's probably around 30-40 people sleeping in it while logged off, we've come upon quite a few rafts/boats with sleeping crews ready to donate metal to our cause

It's a hot mess but surprisingly we've been having a lot of fun, poor guys that started in the tundra regions were getting killed by exposure within 30 seconds of spawning during the cold snaps....thankfully they lowered the intensity of heat/cold fronts by 60%

Is it safe to sleep in the ocean like that?

I was watching a couple of streamers (on the stream server) and that's all I saw them do was harvest resources to make a boat, then a bigger boat and then an even bigger boat. Game looks cool for sure, but it seems like that would get boring after a while.

No you die of exposure in the water and die, those are people just suiciding to get to another spawn point closer to land

You can also hang people

You can also knock out people and put them in cages, force feed them to keep them alive...having a blast, company sank it's first galleon and destroyed an enemy base

Do you play with one of those twitch streamers? I saw them do that last night, was hilarious.

But it doesn’t look like much of a pirate game at this point. Everyone’s running around in plate armor, you got to eat a balanced diet, and it’s like capture the flag with resource gathering.

I’m not knocking it, looks like fun if you’re in a large group but I was hoping for more sink ships, visit taverns, sack towns. Maybe that’ll come later.

It's been fun and it's been annoying as hell at times as well due to bugs etc...they've made some strange changes....can't go out at sea now because they somehow spawned way to many ghost ships which no one can out run or outgun, effectively stopping most of the trade routes/exploring/warring, to be expected in an EA game though

I like the concept of capturing someone, I don’t like the prospect of being caged for hours of playtime
I assume there is a suicide button or some kind of captured timer.

not at the moment, best bet is to hope for one of the cold snaps and die of exposure

You have the ability to capture the enemy and put them in cages, these are some of our current prisoners. They've been there for the past 24 hours and have been stuck there, they can't die as we are force feeding them and making sure the room is nice and warm.

They've been pretty quick with the patches and have greatly reduced the cost to build ships, we've had plenty of sea battles, lost an island fortress and gained another.

https://www.pcgamer.com/racism-in-atlas-becomes-a-problem-as-western-and-chinese-players-clash/

We are actually allied with some Chinese guilds, there was a MAGA guild but they got their butts handed to them by everyone before infighting destroyed them for good.

'But shortly after Atlas' release many began complaining about the presence of Chinese players who appeared to be highly coordinated and highly aggressive. "Literally everyone is getting shit on by them," wrote redditor 'manicscanic' in late December. "They don't care [what level you are]. They will find you and kill your raft. It's not even about skill or anything all they have is numbers completely obliterating everything they see." '

nearly chocked on my tea while reading that, like 'western' guilds are any different better, same with the accusations of cheating, making it appear as if they(Chinese) are the only ones cheating, it's laughable.

So you have to create a new character? Lol that would really bring out the rage in me!

I haven’t played yet but in a strange twist I’ve been watching Fairlight on Twitch play and it’s very entertaining. Looks like a pretty well put together game with a lot of RL moments.
