Beryl going to make landfall somewhere around Corpus Christi/Houston.

Currently forecast to reach cat 1 at landfall, but it’s entirely possible it gets to cat 2. Very warm waters and minimal shear.

What a crazy long lived storm.
I tend to agree with it being stronger. Some guy on youtube was saying the winds on the right side might help the spin of the system. Combine that with the favorable shear and warmer waters just off the coast and it could strengthen. I just checked a map and it is a very healthy looking storm. Don't sleep on this storm if you're in its path.

There was a hurricane that hit southern florida that did a similar thing. They were saying it wouldn't strengthen and you could clearly see it grow right before it plowed into florida. I think it was the same year as Katrina.

I'm betting on a surprise cat3 landing with an abnormally large storm surge. Galveston is gonna take a whack.

I'm curious to see what the ocean temps are in that part of the world now. Like a before and after temp map. Aren't hurricane's pretty good at transferring heat? Not sure if it works that way though.

Refresh this map as needed.

This is the "pre" map I posted earlier.

Edit: here is the map archive for the past year. One could make an animated gif from the maps. I might give it a try.

I am really upset.

This global warming thing was supposed to wait until after I kicked the bucket.

5.6in of rain so far. Power has gone in and out half a dozen times causing my generator to kick on twice for a few minutes. A small leak in the roof around the exhaust for the hot water heater caused the water sensor in the drip pan to go off. All the water is going into the pan and back out the overflow so no damage from that.

Wind gusts are only 30mph but my weather station is on the back side of the house and it’s the front that’s getting hammered.

Power blipped half a dozen times at my house, but thanks to the power of spending money on a whole home generator and Murphys Law we haven’t lost power for more than 3 minutes.
Just for that you're gonna catch a lightning bolt directly on that genny.

Holding special thoughts for you, @Paratus ! Living in Lousyanna for about 5 1/2 years in the mid-80s we experienced at least six hurricanes like that. My mobile home was totaled three times by the insurance company and completely rebuilt each time! I'm sure that shit wouldn't be happening now.

Here's the real kick in the balls about a hurricane, it's the fucking anxiety that used to drive me nuts! Not knowing exactly what's coming. Not knowing exactly when it's coming. Do we evacuate? Will there be anything left after we get back?

Be safe, take care of each other's mental health also.

It is waiting...we ain't seen nothin' yet barring some tech miracle or many, many scientists being wrong.

By the time it really hits, everyone who said it was fake will be dead, and everyone else on team GOP will have worked out a way to blame the liberals for all of it. I'll be gone too, but I have kids and they (and potentially theirs) will be the ones to deal with it.

Kept power today but lost internet and the cell towers were overloaded.

Had some minimal roof damage and several large branches came down.

Had to patch my in-laws roof. My wife’s mom is staying here tonight and my father in law is staying at their house running on a portable generator.

All in all could have been worse.

Beryl is now a tropical depression moving Northward over Arkansas. Lots of rain coming to my corner of Michigan this afternoon.

Yeah, we're supposed to get rain tonight here in the Ville from the eastern edge of it.

Tropical storm Debbie has formed off the coast of Cuba. Predicted to make landfall somewhere in the Big Bend of Florida as a Cat 1.

The Atlantic is growing more favorable for tropical cyclone development.

Looks like this one does not have the most favorable timing or environment for rapid development.
It is expected to face wind shear as it crosses the Gulf.
