ATi RADEON X800 PRO 256MB DDR AGP8X TVO/DVI (Retail)
Built by ATi
12 parallel pixel pipelines
256-bit quad-channel GDDR3 memory Interface
8 extreme parallel pixel pipelines
6 parallel vertex processing engines

Could someone explain what 8 extreme parallel pixel pipelines are?? ....6 vertex shaders..... We'll see a huge fight with the 6800U....

That seems a wee bit pricey for a 12 pipe card. Lets see how it stacks up before anyone preorders eh? :)

It says 12 pipes but then it says only 8 "extreme" pixel pipelines. So what is it? 8x1.5 pipes? LOL

Second that.

Third, plus, no clock speeds listed for GPU nor Memory (unless I totaly missed it)...

It seems as it should be the price of the XT, not the Pro based on Nvidia pricing and specs...

Looks like they had to pull downt he article due to a violation of the NDA.

looks like the ATi card is not what people expected. 12 pixel pipes with 8 extreme pixel pipes? sounds like 8 real pipes with 4 additional 'ones' turned on? so could the 16 pipe version be 8 pixel pipes with 8 extreme pixel pipes? i have a feeling that this means fewer physical pipes than were expected...

LOL, Yeah, the whole thing doesn't make any sense

However, I love that they used the word "extreme" in it somewhere, that obvioulsy means "better", I am so pre-ordering one of these. For the low price of $500, who cares about benchmarks!?!

Serioulsy though, since this is out before the NDA expires, I still take the advetrised specs with a grain of salt, although the text does look like it was taken straight from pre-written verbiage. I wonder why ATI hasn't made Allstarshop take this down yet..

Well, NDA ends in what, 2 days? Who cares?

Even if you do know all the specs of all the cards, it doesn't make one difference. Until we see some benchmarks and reviews, the numbers don't mean anything.

If it is really on the shelves on the 5th, it will be the cheapest 12 pipe card available! :D
Not sure if that will make any sales though. This looks like one confusing retail war coming up, but the good news is that both products look to be winners. Not sure if the gains will be that great, until new games and faster cpu's are released.

Link direct to Allstar...

Reminder, web retailers who are NOT ATI partners do NOT have to follow NDA, this card is coming into stock as many (whats called) disty warehouses plan to ship this card monday to wholesalers, if the wholesaler or webtailor is close to do will call, the product reships to you the same day.

Another words, Allstart is most likely just fine posting this info, Those with NDA's would NOT take debate with the spec's, they could post, that's not correct if they wanted to without breaking NDA's. Do you see that here?

It clearly reads 12 pipes, however without breaking a NDA, it certainly looks as not all 12 pipes are of the same or at the same level, don't read into the specs, it may just run games with 8 pipes (needs) different than a game looking or that may use 12 a little different.

Bench marks will tell all on monday/tuesday.

What this should tell you is that ATI must feel that the Pro matches up to the 6800 Ultra in some way, as they priced it the same.

I still third that fact that it seems the pipes are not all right (of course in the end if ATI is faster and great graphics using something odd, who cares if it works), the Ram & GPU speed is not posted in the specs. My guess is, ATI made some changes to the speed/clock that was not planned months backs to of.

Its all about performance, we've still got a few weeks before we can see a side to side comparison on retaily available cards.

I agree... Nvidia are/will be happy, looks the same for ATI. Working for a OEM, we are for the first time ever looking to move more to the ATI side (with the new cards) although... Not sure as to exactly why yet.

That's canuck dollars though, right? :D

What exactly is "quad channel" GDDR3 and is it different than NV's GDDR3?

That cant be accurate because the card would have to have 4 memory controllers, as well as additional core logic. Not to mention 100GB/sec might be just a bit of overkill for current chips.

Allstar pulled almost all the info, placed the card on not able to order status. ETA is still 05-07

Ati owned the OEM's back in the day(way way back) before
