GTX512 is discontinued and even if you could find one in stock then it would be way over price. I recommend 2x 7800GT :)

X1800xt for the single card.

2x7800GT

Once I get a BIOS that allows me to overclock this card, I will be more forgiving to my XT..

Good card overall though!

Wow, $490 :)
Easy choice @ that price.
I'd take the X1800XT also.

In Canada, the difference is still like $130 :(

Yep. It actually has two dual-link DVI outputs (compared to just one on the 7800GT/GTX).

I was on the fence about getting one since I already have a 7800gtx =P

Of course at $489 it seemed semi reasonable so I ordered one, tho it's back up to $519 now =(

Picked up a new operton, an asus a8r-mvp and some other toys to play with as well, fun weekend in store for me =)

I have a similar setup. I have been kicking around the idea of ditching the GT's for an XT too. Especially after seeing those HDR/AA screenies.

Not sure about the cooler options though. Are the ATI silencers for this card available, and have similar sound / performance to the NV versions ?

I read the XT is loud and hot w/ the stock cooler.

I can't imagine the X1800XT is that much louder than some of the 7800GTs I've been hearing about (stock cooler was the first thing to come off so I don't know from personal experience). But I'm sure there's got to be some aftermarket coolers out for the X1800 series cards by now.

The XT is loud at initial startup but once XP loading screen pops up, its quiets back down. During game play (hours of straight CS:S and BF2) the noise level goes up and down but nothing like the initial load up sound. My maxtor harddrive makes way more noise. During gameplay, I had to disable sound to really tell the difference.

I definetly wouldn't worry about the X1800XT being to loud. I've got the X850XT PE and it never gets too loud (except at windows startup) - though my system is comfortably loud already. My WD harddrive is probably the loudest thing in my system.
