There's some problem with ATT not being able to recognize that the card has 2 different clocks, one for 2D and one for 3D - that's why it won't OC them right.

I am curious how high my card can go, I've maxed it out in CCC.

I don't think CCC is a good program to oc the video card cause i read somewhere it loose'ns the video cards memory timings.

Also does ATT suport X1800XL cause last time i installed it, ATT could not even read my card temp.

I know that Ati Tool is for ocing but can i oc my card with AT and then go into ATT and creat a profile that uses thouse clocks only for gaming or what?

Also what about the cards fan setting?, i don't think ATT has a setting like that for X1800XL but i know that AT has one.

Yes it does work with X1900. During the install say no to letting it handle OC'ing.

Can you use ATI Tool in conjunction with CCC ? And what program are you referring to about
saying no to letting it handle OC'ing ? ATI Tool or CCC ? Im new to ATI coming from nvidia so im a little confused

I also want to know this, anyone.

Uhm I've used ATI Tool alongside CCC since the day I built my system. No problems. I use ATI Tool for overclocking, fan control, and temp monitoring. Works great.

ATI Tray Tools I tried briefly but for me it was more complex, less useful, and more clicks to do what ATI Tool does. just imho.

Yes. You do have to reboot so that the services are actually turned off instead of just being told they need to be disabled after next reboot. The two services basically disable the card's ability to switch from 2D to 3D speeds and volts. That's why you oc the 2D clocks as there are no more 3D clocks.

And when you say to save your profile in which do you save it in, ATT or Ati Tools?

You save your profile in ATI Tools.

So all you do is oc with Ati Tool and change the volts then what is ATT for cause i installed it before and i could not even change my Video cards fan setting.

If you get the newest Beta 14 of ATI Tools than you can change voltage, fan speed, check temps, check for artifacts, etc.

Like munky said, use ATT for changing IQ settings and not for overclocking or for checking card temps (use ATI Tools for that).

Oc using ATI Tool and you also create a gaming profile in the same program.

Like I said above, ATI Tool should have fan speed settings for you.

I understand everything but the highlight above.

So when you say it disables the cards ability to switch from 2D to 3D speeds and volts, is the card only going to be running 3D setting now(even when i'm using word its going to be in 3D mode) or what?

Also why would you want to oc 2D clocks?

When you disable the ati services, the card will always run at 2D clocks by default, even in 3D games. What it means is when you go to OC the card, it will show up 2D clocks and volts. You then have to manually raise the voltage to 3D specs, and then raise the clocks as high as you want. After the OC, the card will run at the OC'd clocks regardless if it's in 2D or 3D modes. Using Ati tool, however, you can set up separate 2D and 3D profiles, so that way you can still run at lower clocks and volts in 2D mode, and it will automatically go to 3D OC'd mode when you run a 3D app.

I get it.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Just one last thing...

I have 2(two) PC's exactly the same, each with 1(one) X1900XTX.

Now, on PC-1 i disable ATI services and ATI Hotkey and on PC-2 i don't.

Will PC-1 oc better then PC-2, or will they give the same results.

PC1 won't lock up if you oc like PC2 would. I accidentely forgot to turn off the services after I'd installed new drivers and after I oced the card I kept locking up when 3Dmark would switch screens between tests. ATI Tool just doesn't work well with those services enabled.
