ATI Radeon X800 XT PE IN STOCK @ Gateway

To bad gateway's ratings stink of hi heaven. Once they sucker you in to place an order they push the arrival date back.

probabaly knock the XT PE off the end of it too.....
Is it a X800Pro , X800 XT , X800XT PE ?
The price tag seems to indicate the vanilla version..

Part number indicates that it is an X800 XT PE:

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION ATI RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition - graphics adapter - ATI RADEON X800 XT - 256 MB

Mfr. Part #: 100-435210

RADEON X800 XT PLATINUM EDITION 100-435210

From my understanding, the X800XT and X800XT-PE are the same card. Some manufactures may call it just XT, other will call it XT-PE. Like I said, from my understanding, it is the same card.

Yup, even ATI's pricing page lists them at the same MSRP @ $499

LetMEtryAGaiN . . . 😛

OK, fanATIc . . . NFS4 . . . 😀

Did YOU order ONE?

i did.

And what do you think of Gateway's dismal ABYSMAL ReSeller Rating?

EDIT: BTW, if you DO chose to order, there is free GroundShipping (a coupon from Gateway's own site - Just 'google it') which saves $7.50 unless you get OVERnight for $15.

Nope, didn't order one. I have a 9800NP and a 1280x1024 19" LCD. I can't run at 1600x1200 so the higher speeds of the X800 series don't really help me for now.

As for their resellerratings, I've ordered from Gateway about 5 times. Never had a problem.

I wonder what this slide at the ATI press show at computex is all about? This slide

The product number (100-435210) is the same as that posted by ATI on their product page. This appears to be the retail package and not an OEM.

Jumped on this deal last night myself. I guess we'll see............

Hmmm, that is interesting. If there are two versions, XT and XT-PE, then this deal isn't that great considering the MSRP on the XT is supposed to be $450. I'd bet the Gateway card is just an XT.

Just FYI, for free ground shipping, you should use the coupon code: NOSHIPA

AAA members should call in. You are entitled to an additional 10% discount on the order.

Dunno about the slide presentation (which appears old), but that doesn't seem very efficient from a manufactering stand point to produce a card that is so incremental in performance and specs. In any case, ATI only lists the x800xt PE (no vanilla "XT") on their website and the product number does match what Gateway and CDW has posted.

Just a note on GW2K customer service. So far, very good. The web page needs work though. I went to e-order one. When I hit the order button, it took me to the root Gateway page. So I went back and chatted up eSales to find out what the deal was. Less than a minute (I hear it is more like 15 now).

Well, I got a confirmation for my online order. I had to hunt through the phone system to get to customer support (4 hops), but wait was only about 2 minutes. She found the order I did with sales. I told her that my order number there did not match my confirmation. So, she called the web folks, found the dupe, and cleared it.

They did well so far. The web systems needs a little work, but otherwise doing good.

There is no longer a "vanilla" XT card -- they changed the name to the "X800XT Platinum Edition" (this must have been an idea from marketing -- "Hey, we need to differentiate our top-of-the-line part more! Quick, change the name!"). 😛

It doesn't matter anymore. If you didn't jump on the deal earlier, you're not getting it. Gateway just discovered the price mix-up and have yanked the page. It will be reposted later with the corrected price.

I could swear I remember some place stating that ATi has decided to just have the X800 Pro and X800 XT PE, which was originally supposed to be a higher clocked version of the XT, but they decided to forego it and just have the XT PE.

I decided to jump on this deal, even though I was leaning towards a 6800 Ultra, and might still end up selling this one to get it. No biggie if I do decide to go for the 6800 Ultra as I should probably be able to at least get close to the same money out of it.

Think I'll notice a difference upgrading from an FX5200?

We'll see, I guess. 🙂

I hope thats the case, but I feel like if they just ran out that they would have listed the card as out of stock or backordered rather than removing the page or any mention of the card from their site. I'm still hanging onto my CDW order just in case. 🙂 My current order status is "Your Gateway order is being filled in our manufacturing facility."

I would love to get the X800 XT Pro PE, but it's just too expensive right now. I may wait a while for the prices to lower or may just get the X800, which is about $100 less. The X800 is faster than the Radeon 9800 Pro XT, although its obviously not as fast X800 XT Pro PE. Decisions decisions. 😕

I ordered mine the other day. Ships 6/9/04. It looks like everyone that ordered over the phone though is shipping on 6/7/04 🙁

No they took it down because so many have been ordered, they don't want to get back ordered too much and not be able to give people their cards.
