The competition between ATI and Nvidia is fiercer than ever. In every aspect of the pc graphic market, chipsets, and in consoles as well.

I think that ATI needs to really work on their driver support. I dont think that they have terrible support, but I just think it is Nvidia's great driver support that just outshines ATI.

Have you owned a Ti500? Have you actually owned BOTH cards? Probably not. Sure Radeon8500 is cheap and fast. But at what cost? I mean the driver is buggy (much better now). I think this is called you get what you paid for. Performance wise, it is still below Ti500. >>

If you talk about the GF Ti, do you also mention that some nvidia drivers from the early 90's were very 'buggy' ?
At least talking about ATI (for some reason) it seems to play an important role that "earlier drivers were buggy"...and you cannot even admit that the recent drivers are quite ok now...except putting a fuzzy comment in brackets

Btw. if you paid "more money" prolly for a ti 500...you seriously think you got "more" for your more spent money ?

Besides..we could of course spend same time now debating whether the gf3 ti 500 REALLY is superior to the 8500...

I think that ATI actually did a good job with their drivers...it was kinda slow start with people having to wait a long time...but since i downloaded every single beta and/or leaked driver and tested them i can NOT complain about a lack of available drivers. More to test/benchmark than one could want...in addition to many "hacks" eg. user made their own drivers by mixing various versions and releasing them. (Never tried them, tho

I have no reason to complain...especially since the 9021 drivers (for 98) or the 6043 drivers (for XP)....everything runs fine for me.

About the naming:

Hm.....Radeon 10000 sounds kinda retarded... i don't know

I never associated their versions with the release of DirectX...but now since you mention it...hmmm.....

Radeon 9000 would make more sense of course....

I reckon they should stick with the 9xxx convention also. What's happening with the R250V or whatever?
