WTF? lol

Better than finding out they bounced.....and my bank puts a 5 day hold on any out-of-town checks, anyway. Hate that, but the way it is.

And don't chide me too much for the drive....my local bank is almost as far as the BoA I drove to. Living way out in the country has its unwelcome effects, but the good side is more than enough to counterbalance the things like long drives to get to the bank.

Ahh, I see.. Well.. lol

And since when do banks charge you a fee for a bounced check? It should just cost the issuer money, in the form of an NSF fee...

Banks piss me off. :| As if any of that shit actually costs them any money. I mean, I can understand an overdraft fee. It's a fee for them basically extending you credit. But an NSF fee or check returned fee? What a bunch of crap. It's all done electronically anyway. Is the fee for the 0.2mb of bandwidth used during the failed transaction?

Dang, the class action doesn't include Canada, and my x1600 cost me over $200 CAD.

Bought a x850xt video card from ATI's store back in 2005. Got my check today for $432. I'd seen this thread and I was thinking, no way I'm gonna get that much money, so when I opened it up as I drove away from the mailbox and saw the amount, I literally jumped up and down in my seat.

I got my check today. Originally paid $180 - $50 (trade-up rebate) for a 9800 Pro, the check was for $192 and some change. What a great surprise!

Some of the "No way in Hell are you gonna get anything" are great!

I would have never bought from the ATI site because they charge list price but one night there was this screw-up that allowed anyone to buy at a employee price and I just plain caved in.

So essentially someone bitched and whined that they had to willing pay more for a card from one site than another and the courts agreed to that? that's fucking unbelieveable. No one forced anyone to buy a card at a given price.

Funny thing is I did buy one of the cards from ATI and never got an email about this. Must have been long enough ago they had my old one. Oh well.... just my luck.

Neither would we have, but when you had a coupon code the dropped large amounts off the price and then could use the trade-in any old card for an additional discount, and then get a refurb that looked like it'd never been used....why not?

I wouldn't drive an hour to cash/deposit them, haha.

You really do have little in the way of reading comprehension skills, I take it.....

And it's about 45 min round trip to my regular bank, so only drove about 7 min. more each way to get to the BoA.

Given the posting about the FTC claim vs J.K. Publications checks being possible scams, I'd rather find out from a BoA bank that the check was real or not vs. having to get hit with a returned check fee....running $45 per check at my bank now.

Lick me........

IIRC, someone filed suit against ATI claiming that ATI cards that they claimed were HDCP capable, weren't. IIRC, the GPU was but without the proper chips and licenses, the assembled cards weren't.

Didn't remember what I bought or how much I paid, but saw the confirmation e-mail from ATI for my purchase from within the covered period so I told ATI to pay me whatever they thought was fair. $162.58 for me too.

My check arrived yesterday... $4006.82! I had bought 35 cards to sell on ebay back in 2006. The weird part is that after coupon my total was closer to $3900. I made about $1300 selling the cards too. I almost feel guilty about this.

And the HDCP lawsuit info is here: http://www.aticlassaction.com/
